Those from this area who went to High School with Tom Granger were saddened to hear of his death at age 36 and feel deep sympathy for his mother, his wife and children and all family 'members. The Ruhl family were all home for family dinner recently. French students enjoy theatrics of Laliberte On Wednesday, November 12, the French Immersion students of R.H. Cornish Public School were treated to the singing, music and comedy of Francois LaLiberte. Accompanied by his fiddler Richard Massie, Francois proceed- ed to involve and enthrall his young audience. Using such musical in- struments as the spoons, comb, drum, harmonica and mandolin, Francois and Richard had students and teachers singing, dancing and clapping. Originally from Sherbrooke and now living in Ontario, Francois has been performing and giving workshops in schools for the past six years. Librarian Colleen Power receiv- ed an autographed copy of Francois LaLiberte's newly released album 'Les dauteries." Judging by the en- thusiasm of the students it should become a popular tape. Francois LaLiberte was able to perform for the students by the French Immersion Parents Association. Two other perfor- mances are scheduled for 1987. Theatre de Petit Boheur will be per- forming the play Rose, Rose, Rose in February. Acadian singers Cor- ~ mier and Deschenes will be at R.H. ~ Cornish in April for two perfor- mances. A family concert is being planned for June. The French Immersion Parents Association hopes to bring many more singing, theatre and dance groups like Francois LaLiberte for the enjoyment and cultural enrich- ment of the Immersion students.
