After being on a winning spree, The Canadian Tire boys were brought back to earth and were handed two defeats at the hands of Orono 5-2 and Bowmanville 4-3. Orono quickly took a three goal lead before the Tiremen were able to score, but Blair Phillips did, with help from Keith Roberge and Terry May. In the second period, again Orono scored twice before Keith Roberge notched his as Jeff Breen and David Irvine icked up assists. d period had Port Perry .. up tight checking and skated hard in keeping Orono off the score sheet. They themselves tried but couldn't put it in. Final Score 5-2 for Orono. Down in Bowmanville (Hamp- ton), Canadian Tire from Port Perry led 2-1 after one period of play. Bowmanville then pro- ceeded to put on pressure and finally scored. Port Perry got the only goal in the second period, but showed a defen- sive checking game and they skated hard also. With just one hour to rest prior to the game, the Eagles played pro- bably their best game of the day as they blanked Norwood by a score of 5-0. With just 1:25 played into the first period, Dave Burnett fed a beautiful pass to Mark Barkey who scored making it 1-0 in favour of the Eagles. With Port Perry working hard both on defense and offense they manag- ed to keep the majority of the play in enemy territory and Warren Geer slipped one by the Norwood goaltender with assists going to Steve Connors and Brad Menzies. Mojacks ( From page 22) Giacalone picked up a match penalty for removing Kimble's helmet and taking a few swings with it in his right hand. He's an Oshawa native who has been playing with the Junior B Legionaires. He appears to be the kind of hockey player who thrives in a rough and tumble, hard hitting game. Other than the outbreak between Giacalone and Kimble, the game Sunday night was fairly clean with the MoJacks taking eight minors and the Muskies called for 12 penalties. The trio of John Hartford, Greg Warriner and Brian Prakken was outstanding in a defensive, penalty- killing role. They were buzzing all over the ice, forcing turn-overs and generally giving the Lindsay players fits with their strong checking. In other weekend action around the Junior C loop, the Little Britain Merchants appear to be getting in gear with two wins, one over Port SKATING The last goal of the first period was scored by Warren Geer assisted by Brad Menzies and Bill Eade. The second period was evenly played by both Newcastle and Port Perry so in turn went scoreless. Warren Geer finished his hat trick as he scored once more with Steve Connors drawing the assist. Port Perry scored one more last goal and it was by Mark Barkey who was fed a perfect pass by Warren Geer. This ended the game with Port taking home the hardware from Campbeliford. Jason Weinhold scored Oldtimers consolation champions The Port Perry Oldtimers Hockey team is at it again for another 'season. They participated in their first tournament of the year on November 28/31 in Woodville, On- tario. The first game of the tournament required some hard work to come from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game at 3/3. Goals were scored by Gary ~ Geer with 2 and Barry Leask with assists going to Don Mason, Bob Bradbury, Pete Morris and Arnold May. The second game played i in Can- nington saw the team coming from behind again to tie a team from Pelham 3-3. Goals scored by Vern (Pill) Willis, Don Mason and Gary Geer with assists going to Dave Barkey, Vern Willis, Barry Leask, Gary MacDonald and Les Brown. Now in a must win situation the team came up strong and with the outstanding goaltending of John Cook shutout Newmarket Chiefs 4-0. Goal scorers were Gary MacDonald with 2, Arnold May and Vern (Pill) Willis with one each. Assists going to May, MacDonald, Geer, Mason and Willis. This win moved the team to the "D" division final against Pelham again. Pelham came up strong for this game and the Oldtimers had to settle for the consolation prize los- ing 4-1. Scoring for the Oldtimers was Arnold May from Pete Morris and Gary Geer. The Oldtimers are looking for- ward to a couple more tournaments before the season is over and should be ready come April for the final tournament of the season. Irvine scored the third goal this period, with Lally and Gibson assisting. Then Lindsay got one back before C.T.C. again scored twice with Bob- by Ofr scoring after taking a pass from Gibson. Then John Lally got his third goal of the night, when Jamieson fed him a perfect pass Two periods over - 9-2 C.T.C. The third period started off like the boys were looking at double figures. Phillips scored his third goal, Roberge assisting. Bobby Orr then scored the next two giving him four for the night with Roberge and Douma picking up assists. Keith Roberge finally scored with John Lally earning the assist. David Irvine then picked up his third goal of the night unassisted. And to top it all, Blair Phillips scored his fourth goal of the game with John Lally earning the assist. The final score was 15-3 Canadian Tire.
