Children gathered at Seagrave store Seagrave and Area News by Kaaren Johnston | ~ Much to the delight of the neighbourhood children, Santa Claus arrived as promised at the Seagrave Country Store this past Saturday. His jolly old self visited with the children and left the village with quite a long list of Christmas wishes. We are happy to hear that little Matthew Bruce is home from the hospital recovering from a nasty bout with pneumonia. Get well soon Matty, as Santa is coming. We would also like to wish Amy Bruce a Happy Birthday. Amy will be turning seven on December 18th. The annual Christmas concert will be held this Friday, December Santa Claus popped down from the North Pole Saturday after- noon to make his annual visit to the Seagrave General Store, and nobody was happier about it than the children! Above, Tanya Maschke, 6, and her sister Sarah, 5, both of Seagrave, settle in 19th at 7:30 p.m. Rehearsal will be this Thursday at 7 p.m. sharp. Last year I had the occasion to attend my first Seagrave Christmas concert, and I must admit, I thoroughly en- joyed myself. I am looking forward to this Friday night. The nominating committee, com: prised of Mildred Puckrin, Len Somerville and Ken Short are seek- ing people to serve on the Board of Stewards, as well as someone to do the announcements and arrange the bulletin board display. A special Teen Christmas dance will take place this Friday, Dec. 19th, at the Greenbank Hall from 7:30 to 11:00 p.m. All 11 to 17 year olds arc invited to attend. Admission is $2.50 at the door. Prizes for spot dances and door prizes will be awarded. Pop and chips will be available at the snack 'bar. Music will be supplied by the Rebel D.J.'s. This is an adult superivised event. They had a special speaker for the occasion. The church service on Sunday was much enjoyed, especially so, because the Scugog Singers accom- panied on the piano by Ann Tapscott rendered to lovely anthems. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Watson were happy to have their three sons, their wives and families home for a pre- Christmas dinner. Don and Stella Asling were in Hanover this weekend to visit Dr. and Mrs. Jerold Asling and family. Earl Taylor's sister Ruth of Can- nington had lunch with Earl and Elizabeth on Saturday. Senior Citizens ~~ by E. Irvine The Senior Citizens held their regular meeting on Wednesday, December 10th. The meeting was opened by the president which was followed by the singing of O'Canada followed with a minute silence for one of our members who passed away. General business was in order. After the meeting we were enter- tained by the Lions Club who gave us a wine and cheese party which was really enjoyed by all. Thanks again fellows. Our next meeting will be on January 14, 1987.
