Utica and Area News by Vera Brown Christmas 1986 has come and gone and now we can all start that © diet that will be needed following all : the turkey and plum pudding etc. Some of us in the village receiv- '| ed a very nice Christmas greeting | by way of carolling by the Croxalls, Sharon and daughters Julie, Sarah and Shelley who were accompanied by Janine who I am sure will be singing right along with them next year. I enjoyed it and I am sure everyone else did too. Thanks girls. Calling on us during the holidays was Bill's sister Bea. Kelly of Blackstock and their mother Mrs. K. Brown of Sunderland. We en- joyed Christmas Day with the rest of our family at the Gerrows at View Lake. Jack, Nancy Skelding and girls spent Christmas Eve with Mr. and Mrs. Everett Lake at Newcastle. Mrs. Elizabeth Lake spent a few days during Christmas with son Jack and family. Hillis and Carol Wilbur had their families with them on Christmas Day and joining them were Miss Carolyn Ball and Miss Debl..e Ball of Richmond Hill. If you thought Santa Claus was busy on Christmas Eve, you should have seen Hazel Brooks on Christmas Day, she went to Oshawa bright and early and had breakfast and gift opening with Robert Leslie and Daryl, then on her way home stopped in at Hillsdale Manor and visited several friends. On Boxing Day, Hazel opened her house to all her family, then on Sat. Dec. 27th Hazel was treated to dinner at the Conway Gardens by several of her nieces and nephews and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Collins of Fairport, New York. Sorry to report that Mabel Strong is once again in Port Perry Hospital, suffering from a heart attack the day before Christmas. This past weekend we received word of the passing of three former residents of our community, who at one time lived within 4 mile of each other on the 5th Concession west of the village.
