Jim had a select herd of beef cattle and for some years had a poultry - egg business and delivery service to customers in Oshawa. He set up a unique "'self- serve" system for local customers where they picked up their eggs, wrote the number and amount in the book, put the money in the con- tainer, mage their change and sign- ed their names. This proved very successful. In the 1970's he reduced the work load by selling 50 acres at the south end, leaving him with 25 acres, with the well kept buildings.
