French students back from Montreal trip A group of about 20 Grade Six French Immersion students from R.H. Cornish, recently returned from a four day trip to St. Donat, Quebec, 100 miles north of Montreal. This was a cultural and linguistic * excursion of some 180 students from across Southern Ontario and was of- fered by Interface. The students had the opportunity to study in French, the history and geography of the area and to have lessons in either cross-country or downhill skiing. As their teacher, Sylvie Gardner reports, the R.H. Cornish students distinguished themselves by the quality of their language and the fact that they pro- duced three winners on the final day of sports competitions. As well as being entertained by traditional French Canadian fare, the students met with the local peo- ple and wére able fo try snow- shoeing, toboganning and broomball in the beautiful Mont Garceau ~ Region. : It was an event tobe remembered and one almost certain to be repeated. Many thanks to the teachers and parents who organiz- ed and accompanied the students.
