The team had im- pressive wins over Saunders High __School of London.and.Eastdale. of -- Oshawa. However, in the semi- Junior 'C' Hockey SCUGOG ARENA finals the boys lost a hard-fought battle against O'Neill Collegiate of Oshawa. Pineridge Atoms rolling in the round robin series This past week, the Pineridge Atoms continued their round robin affair with four games in five days -- winning three and tying one. - Strong defensive play involving for- wards, defencemen and goaltenders limited the opposition to only four goals in the four games. Port Perry 2 "Orono L Port out-shot Orono by a 2-1 margin in this game but managed only the two goals. Todd Smart pounced on a loose puck late in the second period and drove the puck home for the first goal of the game. Early in the third period Billy Sandiford,: Scott Wylie and Neil Mueller applied the pressure. Final- ly, Scott Wylie scored from a scram- ble with Misty Andrews assisting. Simon Traynor and Blair Prechitko had a strong defense in this game. Port's initial goal was a beauty in- volving Joey Broadworth, Chad Kearns and Blair Prechitko. Blair fed Chad with a lead pass. Chad then slid the puck over to Joey breaking on left wing. Joey drilled a good low shot home. Joey Broadworth scored his second goal on Billy Sandiford's rebound. Port's final game winning goal was a Dave Bourgeois special -- a scorching wrist shot over the goaltender's shoulder. Prechitcho and Simon Traynor with heady play earned the assists. This was a well-earned and very satisfy- ing team victory. Port Perry 4 Little; Britain 0 Illness continues to deplete Pineridge's team. Key players -- Brent Harper, Todd Smart and Dave Bourgeois were unable to play this game. Get well soon guys - the Blair are Keith St. John, Terry Howsam and Bruce Ferguson. Joe Todd from Dixie Curling Club was the runner-up in this event with 43 points over team needs you! 'Port dug deep with a solid team effort and dominated this game. Steven Stiles was strong in goal. Cory Bricknell and Brett Lawson were outstanding on defense. Chad Kearns was checking every Orono player in sight. Finally Mike Williams and Todd Smart got Port's tie with Mike scoring, Todd assisting. While Port felt they should have won this game, a tie was much better than a loss - soit was on to the next game in Newcastle. Port Perry 3 -Newcastl This was a on iy game. The Pineridge atoms felt Newcastle would be tough and they were. Newcastle played a strong game - and actually outshot Port. Steven Gilbert was outstanding in goal making several terrific saves. Brett Lawson was solid as a rock on defense.
