The entire game belonged to Port as they total- <ly dominated the opposition. The defencemen Jay King, Matt Morris, Billy Zaparanuik apd Greg Thomp- son all played a fabulous game con- stantly frustrating the rushes the Port Hope team made. Nice work boys! The forwards played equally fabulous passing and skating around Port Hope like they were standing still! Scoring for Port were Ryan Williams and Jeremy Geer with 2 goals each, Craig Laird 1 goal, 1 assist, Kenton LeFort and Greg Petite (C's Saturday's ringette game against Lindsay Crayola was an exciting 'see-saw battle from start to finish. Although the Port Perry team had not had a victory in several weeks, they came through with excellent drive and team work to defeat Lind- say 12-10. = Several key saves by Sarah Coyne kept Port Perry in the game when Lindsay was threatening. At the end of the first periog the score was 7-4 for Lindsay but Port Perry came back to tie it up and then trade goals from end to end throughout the se- cond period. Leea Kinnunen who had scored - the first goal of the game for Port Perry also scored the final goal to Thompson 1 goal each, Jay Tredway 2 assists, and Sandy Mark 1 assist. Congratulations boys every one of you played great. Saturday began a busy weekend for the Novice No.1's as they travell- ed to Campbeliford for a 2 day tour- nament. Port's 1st match-up was against the team representing Bancroft. : Port came out all fired up for the win and they did just that trouncing their opponents 5-1. The line of Jeremy Geer, Tommy Fitzpatrick and Craig Laird led the way in scoring as wingman Timmy Fitzpatrick blasted in Port's 1st goal midway through the 1st period assisted by defenceman Greg Thompson. Timmy put in his 2nd of win 12-10 end the anxious uncertainty for the excited fans. Leea had three goals, Valarie Payne had seven and Amanda Webb" had two including the winning goal unassisted. At one point in the se- cond period after a goal by Valarie Payne was disallowed, she dazzled the opposition by dominating play until she finally scored again. Jean Templeman worked well with Valarie and assisted on seven goals. Brandy Harris, Melissa Pereman, Vanessa Mumford and Sara Wanamaker also assisted. Hopefully the team will maintain its spirit and teamwork in the next game this Wednesday in Bobcaygeon. the game to end the period 2-0 with Jeremy Geer and Craig Laird com- bining for the assists. As the 2nd period opened Bancroft sneaked in their lone goal but Port quickly answered back as Craig Laird netted Port's 3rd goal assisted by Timmy, With 2 min. remaining Port's Sandy Mark worked together with Ryan Williams to cushion Port's lead 4-1. With 14 sec. remain- ing Kenton LeFort netted one more ending the game - Port on top 5-1. Port's 2nd game came later in the evening as Port faced off against Picton. After encouraging words from coach Spencley and the "pep squad" of Jenny, Laurie, Michelle & Lisa giving them some special cheers Port came out and proved what a fabulous team they are as they blanked Picton 7-0. Port's scoring in this game were Jay Tredway and Sandy Mark with 2 goals and 1 assist each, Kenton LeFort and Gavin Carnegie 1 goal, 1 assist, Tommy Chambers 1 goal and Ryan Williams 2 assists. Great game boys! Goaltenders Scot Pretchitko and Brandon Hammond both played an excellent standup game of hockey each sharing the shut-out. Way to go boys! Sunday the boys were set to challenge the team from Kingston Township. This was by far the most exciting and fast skating game of the tournament. Larocque's tied the game with a goal from Peter Simms assisted by Kevin Busher, Emiel's took a 2-1 lead into the third on a goal by Robert Vanuden unassisted.
