We are also informed that "there will be Public Awareness events on Healthy Heart Living at the Oshawa Centre in the centre court, all day on Valentine's Day. Wed. evening, 15 members of e "Head" UCW met at the home of Mrs. Marilyn Heayn. They plann- i! the Wedding meal they will serve ~ at the Catholic Church on Feb. 14th. On Wed. of this week, the Stewards will meet at Scugog United at 7:30 p.m. Next Sunday, will be for Baptism and reception of new members. The "Friendship" UCW will meet at the Church at 9:30-a.m. - Wed. Feb: 18th. The study will be * 'Half of the World's People." Don't forget Biblg study at the Manchester home of Adeline Blayone on Tuesdays. On Feb. 24th at 10 a.m. there will be another Coffee Hour at the Island United with guest speaker Eleanor Robertson from Northminster United in Oshawa. Then on Wed. evening of Feb. 25th, Dick and Mina Stéar will share their lovely trip to Africa thro' pic- tures and description as guests of - . the Grace UCW. This will surely make us forget winter storms. But before the pictures you are invited to share a Pot-luck supper at 6 p.m. We'll tell you later about the plans for March. We are sorry to report that Christina Prentice had to spend a lit- ~ tle time in Port Perry-Hospital for observation of circulation. But the Prentice's near neighbour on the same main Island Road, the Parkers, have had mueh concern over Claudia's health as he has - spent some time in the Oshawa Hospital, and will now spend about 6 weeks taking treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital for a throat ailment. Our thoughts and prayers will go with him for com- - plete recovery. Durham Save-a-Heart in co- operation with the Affiliate Facul- ty and the Instructor-Trainer Ad- visory Committee is planning a joint Public Awareness event on Healthy Heart Living at the Oshawa Centre in the centre court on Sat. Feb. 14th, 1987 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. At a time and place of mutual con- venience, Durham Save-a-Heart will conduct a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course for any group (min. 6). Ladies high was- Doris Dunlop, second was Dora Geer and low was Bernice Daniels and I see the men let their side down again, what would you men dé without those gals"? Mens high was- Harold Burgess, second was Mildred Thompson and low was Phyllis Clarke. Draw prizes went to Ros¢ Willoughby and Marie Geer. Congratulations to Suzanne Doupe and Les Smith who were married on Sat. Feb. 7th in the Prince Albert United Church. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Martyn are back in Prince Albert after a week on a Carribean cruise travelling as far as Caracus Venezuela South America on' the Greek Ship 'Oceanos.' Now Earl is busy doing chores while Alwin and Mary Lou Van Ravenswaay and family are en- joying two weeks in Florida. Congratulations to Clayton and Pat Love, they made it through 45 years of married life on Sat. Feb 7th. On Sunday they enjoyed a quiet dinner with all their family. Earl and Reta Reader had a plea- sant surprise on Friday when they were invited to share a reunion with the former Barry sisters (former neighbours) at the home of the older sister Noreen Leahy, prior to her Jnoving arrangments. Among those present were the late Leona Barry's twin sister, Lor- na Stackhofise (mother of the hockey player, Ron Stackhouse), of West Guilford, who also enjoyed her birthday celebration. Then the sisters Ella Smith of Enniskillen, Barbara Keefer of Norwood with her daughter-in-law and 2 grand- children of Oshawa, Geraldine Espie of Haliburton, and Allison Soper of Lindsay. Carol Johnston of Woodville could not attend, and of « Time to think about healthy living hearts course not badly crippled brother Jack of Edmonton. Noreen's daughter Valerie who has been liv- ing at home was also able to be present. Years ago we used to marvel at the way Geraldine Espie could bun- dle up her six children and have them on time for the "Head "Memorial" Sunday School.
