March 6th, at 2 p.m. in the Anglican Church, Blackstock. 97th Birthday Celebrated A delightful birthday tea was "hosted" by Bernice Davidge, in 4 honour of her Mother Evva Davidge who turned 97 years old on Tues. Feb. 19th. The celebration was held at their lovely new home at 329 Lorne Street in Port Perry. (They were former residents of Williams Point, and have moved to Port Perry just recently). Relatives. friends and neighbours and so forth were invited to this gala" party and one and all en- 1. joyed the afternoon, mingling with friends and socializing with a most incredible lady .. Evva .. extending best wishes to her for a very happy 'birthday! Activity has been Evva's life .. she is skilled in so many crafts, = cooking, ceramics, knitting, sewing etc. As well she loves to play a hand of p.m. Those in- gardening, - bridge or euchre and is fond of travelling. A lady whose interest has never waned and all this keeps her alert, active and young. Evva is the kind of person that lifts the heart - a warm and loving person. The very best to her from this area. A' variety of delicious goodies were made and served by Dorothy and Marg Lee assisted by a friend of Bernice Davidge- Marjorie Price from Manilla. The elegant birthday cake was made by Dorothy Lee and decorated by her granddaughter Debbie Lee - very beautifully done! The honoured guest cut the cake and it was served to the forty or so invited guests attending. Evva was showered with lovely cards, gifts and flowers. A most exciting party and so glad we didn't miss it. We wish friend Evva much happiness and good health as she moves into her 98th year. We hope to celebrate with her again next year! Social Notes Christina Henderson of Edin- burgh, Scotland, spent Fri. after- noon with Sam and Mabel at the farmstead. We had an interesting visit over the teacups. She will be - returning to her beloved Scotland in a few days, after a two-month stay with daughter Chris and husband Cliff Davis, Scott and Carleton of Scugog Point Rd., and other relatives and friends. The Sam Cawkers: spent Wed. afternoon with Chas. and Nell Cawker of Scarborough and enjoyed their hospitality very much. It was a pleasure to see them looking so fit! A daughter of the late William Beaton and Robie McLeod. Blanche was born at Blackwater, Ontario, March 9, 1906. She receiv- ed her early education at Saintfield and Uxbridge High Schools. After graduating from Peterboro Teachers College in 1925 she taught at Saintfield, West Brock and Royal Oak Schools before joining the Toronto Board of Education where she taught until she retired June 30, 1968. Blanche was a member of Evangel Temple Toronto. She is survived by her sister Mabel of Oshawa, her brother Bruce and his wife Anna of Port Perry, a niece Margaret McKnight of Leaskdale, and nephews Willie of Oshawa and Donald of Port Perry, predeceased by Mildred, MUrEDY and George. Funeral services were held at the Wagg-McDermott-Panabhaker Funeral Home in Port Perty on January 30 at 2 p.m The Rev. Dr. George Moore officiated. Spring interment at McNeil Cemetery, Wick, Ontario
