JS > Pp | Eagles sweep series by Hillis Wilbur The Grant Menzies Eagles had lit- tle trouble with Port Hope winning the series by scores of 5 to 3 in the first game 9 to 3 the second game and bombed them 16 to 5 in the 3rd game so Port Hope didn't bother showing up for the 4th game, mail- ing us the 2 points. Winning this series put the Eagles in the quarter. finals of the All Ontario playoffs against Gananoque. In the first game after not playing for three weeks the Eagles came out flat and lost 7 to 5. Scoring for Port were Todd Taylor with 1 goal and 1. assist, John Harman 1 goal unassisted, Mark Barkey, Derek Dexter and Rob BAker each had 1 goal. Picking up assists were Dave Culbert, Steve Durham, Flip McBride, Twig Connors, Kevin Gib- son and Dave Burnett. Stacey Ball- ingall and Bill Eade were between the pipes. Andrew Pereman came right back and scored for Whitby Auto Wreckers with Mike Pothier and Nicki Beare receiving the assists. Port Perry Lions 4 Lake Scugog Lumber 4 Port Perry Lions took a 2-0 lead, Craig Dale from Sean Gawley and Mike Staniland followed by Mike Staniland on a pass fromf Mike Leach and Shannen Leslie. Lake Scugog came back with two to tie the game, Kevin Pearce assisted by Dale Bradbury and An- drew Jones, Steven Stiles on a pass from Steve MacDonald and Kevin McGrisken. : Early in the third period Craig Dale scored for the Lions from Brad STrickert and Kevin Ellis. Lake Scugug tied it right up on a goal from Kevin McGrisken, Karen Kett and Sean Ball' The Port Perry Lions went ahead for the fourth time on a beauty goal by 'Kevin Ellis, Josh Wilson and Mike Staniland assisting. Kyle Simms in goal for Lake Scugog Lumber and Mike Tripp for Port Perry Lions played superb. PeeWee's lose opener goals before the Legionnaires settl- ed down and finally managed to score their second of the day on a goal by Steve Staniland assisted again by Brett. But Napanee responded once more before the end of the period. Brian Madill played netminder in | the third period for the Port Perry team and faced many hard shots. The Legionnaires fired in the first one on a goal by Jan Heyes from Jason Towns and Chris Forder. Napanee replied with one more goal 'to end the game, defeating Port Perry 7-3. ~The coaches are very pleased with - the effort the whole team put forth.
