Joe Fusco, owner of Joe's Pizza has been missed during the last year after closing down his business on Baldwin Street. But the man, who locals feel makes the best pizza anywhere, is back in his new location on Winchester. Possibly the most pleased are the children of the area, for they are once again being given the opportunity to have their pizza days at both Brooklin schools. Restaurant re-opens Yes, Joe is back and Brooklin is mighty happy, particularily the children of the area. The Joe referred to is Joe Fusco, and the elation of local residents is due to his business Joe's Pizza. Pizza lovers around Brooklin had been spoiled, with what some claim to be the best pizza anywhere, for six years when Joe had his restaurant on Baldwin Street. And after he closed up shop a year ago, things just weren't the same. But now, Joe has re-opened at 93 Winchester Street, (corner of Anderson) a location he says is far superior to his former spot. The restaurant is bright and cheery with a seating capacity for 22-at tables well spaced apart. Of course most of Joe's business is on a take-out basis, and his long hours serve the most people. He is open seven days a week...11 a.m. until midnight Mon- day through Thursday, 11 a.m. un- til 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday and from 4 to9 p.m. on Sunday. He even delivers on Friday and Saturdays. But it is the food that has made Joe so famous over the years. His pizza, ranging from a mini four the place for CHICKEN & RIBS teaturing Salad Bar, Children's Menu and more! LOCATED on HWY. 12 Just South of Thickson Rd. - 655-8911 slicer to a 32-slice party size monster, offers a choice of 13 topp- ings. And if you are all by yourself, then you can dig into individual slices or a great Panzoratti (one taste of this and you're hooked for life). Or how about some lasagna. At $4.50 it's a good buy. Joe has even introduced a lunch special of a large slice of pizza and soft drink for $1.99. Of course there is always someone in the crowd who doesn't care for ~ Italian food. No problem, as there's submarines (hot or cold), an assort- ment of burgers, chicken fingers. fish and chips; even soup and fries. Joe is no stranger to the Brooklin area. He has lived in the village since 1966 with his wife Betty and two sons. Betty also helps with the business, dividing her time between the Brooklig operation and their other pizza house in the RossLynn Plaza in Oshawa, which is manag- ed by their son John. John Fusco is well known for his excellent prowess with Brooklin Redmen lacrosse squad. Possibly the most pleased with the _ re-opening of Joe's are the children attending Meadowcrest and St. Leo's schools in town. Now, they will once again be able to enjoy *'Pizzd Days," an alternative luricheon pro- gram which gives them the oppor: tunity of a break away from the dreaded "bagged lunch." Joe has always made a special effort for the. kids. Joe is extremely pleased to be back in Brooklin. "I feel I owe the people of this area something," said Joe "lf 1 wasn't for them supporting me when I first opened up. I wouldnt be where I am today.. they are jus! great." 'And I have been surprised with how they have welcomed me back. he added. "I'm so pleased to be back.' It should not be a surprise te Joe that he is welcomed back by local residents.
