Both goals were scored by Brandy Harris, assisted by Leea Kinnumen. The Ontario Central Region Ringette Tournament was held March 13, 14 and 15 in Warsaw, En- nismeore and Durro. On Friday even- ing in Ennismore the Port Perry team played against Pickering, defeating them 6 to 3. All the players played well, showing spirit and teamwork. Sarah Coyne in goal had - an excellent game and was credited with one asSist &s well. Valerie Payne scored all six goals with assists by Brandy Harris and Jean Templeman. Friday night's impressive win was followed by an equally im- pressive game in Warsaw on Satur- day morning against Oshawa. Un-. fortunately the girls could not come up with the goals needed to defeat the strong Oshawa team. Although the final score was 6 to 2 in Oshawa's favor, the Port Perry team showed excellent drive throughout the game, making their fans extremely proud of them. | - They undoubtedly defeated their opponents in sportsmanship if not in points. Goals by Valerie Payne, assists by Brandy and Jean. 5 Petite C team The game against Lindsay Crayola later on Saturday afternoon unfortunately saw the Port Perry team defeated by a score of 6 to 4. Although the team could not be counted out until the last few minutes, they were always behind by at least one goal and couldn't make their plays work for them as they had in earlier games. Leea Kinnumen played extreme- ly well and scored the first goal, assisted by Amanda Webb who also played well and had many exciting opportunities. Just thirty-five seconds after ~~ Lindsay had scored early in the se- cond period, Jean Templeman put a beautiful goal past Lindsay to "make the game 5 tb 3. Her goal was 'assisted by Valerie Payne and the teamwork and drive evident at this point had fans on edge. Valerie came back with a second goal less than a minute later to make it 5 to . "4 but unfortunately Lindsay scored once more, thus clinching the game. Throughout the season these girls developed skills in skating, passing, controlling the ring and in sportsmanship. Great credit must be given to their manager, Nancy Coyne and to the coaches Reg Templeman and Dan Harris who helped the team develop so well.
