The Auctioneers face the crunch On Saturday March 21 the Pearce Auctioneers began their final series for the Eastern Ontario Champion- ship against Ernestown and it pro- ved to be a very exciting and equal- ly aggressive match-up. Port Perry started scoring early in the game as Jeremey Geer blasted the puck bet- ween the pipes, unassisted with on- ly 40 seconds played into the game Port's Sandy Mark did some fan- ¢y skating and shot in Port's second - of the period assisted by Jay King. Tending Port's net was Scot Pret- chitko who made some unbelievable saves throughout the game in- cluding several breakaway shots!' Super work Scotty! During the 2nd period Port Perry continued to play aggressive hockey -but Ernestown managed to sneak in 3 goals to take the lead. With a 5 minute break between the 2nd and: 3rd period the Auctioneers got a good rest and a rousing pep talk from coach Spencley and were ready to play again. With 1 minute gone iti the 3rd period Sandy Mark wound up and let go a devastating shot past the Ernestown net minder tieing the game 3-3 With Port Perry wanting the win they raced to the limits of their abilities and were ab solutely fantastic forechecking, backchecking and shooting on the Ernestown net These 2 teams play the same style of hockey and are equally matched making this series a very fast skating end to end type of game that 1s so exciting to watch With 2 minutes remaining in the game Port Perry was handed 2 minor penalties and that was "all Ernestown n\eded as they scored twice giving t the Ist game 5-3 Great work Port Perry!
