In the temporary absence of President Elizabeth Taylor, Vice- Pres. Elva Kerry' welcomed everyone and led in the repeating of the U.C.W. purpose Irene Fielding led the worship ser- vice starting with Scripture readings from John 20, verses 1-18 Lucienne rendered a beautiful solo entitled "He touched me.' Medita- tion was entitled Easter Images - victory from defeat, and told of the events of Easter starting with Lent, Holy Week, Friday' afternoon, Faster dawn, Ascension & Pentecost. Prayer follawed. The worship closed with the singing ot Hymn 101 "There is a green hill far away." " The program was presented by Shirley Baster on International Af- fairs. The subjegt was mainly on the refugee situation and immigration problems they have encountered since the government has closed the borders to many immigrants. The ~ present situation was compared to the persecution of refugees even in the time of 'Mary & Joseph when Jesus was born. Shirley explained the work of Tucerr House in Toron- to which helps refugees get jobs, homes etc. and their needs from organizations, churches and com- munities and also the need for spon- sors for refugees. Business: Roll call was answered by 18 members. Minutes of March meeting and Financial report were given and adopted. Voted to send $25.00 to Presbyterial for M&S to commemorate the 25th Anniversary and for May's roll call to bring items to be taken to Tucerr House. May meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Discussion on the up-coming auc- tion sale to raise money for Day Port Perry Minor Softball TRYOUTS for TRAVELLING REP. TEAMS - PORT PERRY LEGION SQUIRT BOYS: Care and decided to sell coffee and pie as the Youth Group will sell pop & hot dogs. Declined offer to supp- ly Day Care with lunches.
