EE President Pyke speaker OFA meeting a success Brigid Pyke, President of the On- tario Federation of Agriculture con- tributed to the big success of the an- nual banquet held on April 10, 1987 at Blackstock Community Centre. Her talk was well received by the audience of 206 that were present. Brigid Pyke told farmers that they have to stick together, we can't go in, with farmers against farmers and succeed. She said that as far as the supply management sector goes, 'Don't touch it!" She also commented on Vicky Miller and her campaign against agriculture. The fewer platforms she receives the better for agriculture. But the OFA will keep informed of Vicky Miller and her followers. Pyke told the audience that Miller says that milking machines are causing mastitis to half the cows in the country. Pres. Pyke was thanked and presented with a piece of crewel art work which was hand made by past secretary Dorothy Catton. On Monday night Mrs. Barbara Ward coached her Mites team, 9 & 10 year olds, sponsored by Timms Garage to a win over Bruton's IDA of Port Perry. This team play all - their games on Monday evening at 6:30 in the park, except for two - games, and they play one way game next Monday at Seagrave. The second Mites team coached by Judy McSween are 7 & 8 year olds and are sponsored by Mancon Paints. This team also plays on Monday evening, but their home diamond is R.H. Cornish, and they played their first game on Monday against Rent & Save of Port Perry and were also winners. Although the turn out was poor, the feeling was that the meeting was worth while.
