Even though the team had not been on skates for some eight weeks, memories of the past season were still fresh in the minds of all those who attended the 15th annual Awards Night dinner. "I think it was a very gratifying year for Junior C hockey in Port Perry," said general manager Mur- ray Parliament. AS 1 - MoJack trainer Gord Mahatty (left) had the honour of presenting the MVP awards to co- winners Andy Sutch and Darren Nesbitt. Andy Carl Luke presented MoJack Best Defensive Head coach George Burnett, who will be back behind the bench this coming season, had words of praise for the way his team performed over the course of the year. Burnett said that when he took over the reins of the team last year along with assistant Ed Olsen, he was hoping for .500 hockey. The team surpass- ed that goal with 22 victories, a first place finish in its division and a four- game sweep of Lindsay in the open- ing playoff round. "We proved to a lot of fans just how good Junior C hockey can be," he stated. He admitted that the loss in six games to Uxbridge in the playoff was bitterly disappointing, but he noted that a couple of the games were decided in double over-time and fans in both communities took a great interest in the series. Burnett had words of praise for the effort and dedication from the players as he introduced team members individually. He also noted that the MoJacks this past season enjoyed pretty good success against the Lakefield Chiefs, the was team captain, finished third in league scor- ing. Darren was a league all-star and an outsfan- ding two way player from his position on the Mo- Jack defense. Rick Wilson.
