Here at the Nursing Home on Sunday, May 10th we held our 2nd Annual Mother's Day Champagne Breakfast. The ladies were treated to Blueberry Pancakes, Bran Muf- fins, Fresh Fruit Salad, bacon and of course pink sparkling cham pagne. A lucky draw for 'Todays Special Mother' was won by Mrs Norma Jeffrey. She received a beautiful flower arrangement. Upcoming events are Supper Club (May 28), Drive in the Country (June 9), and Resident Council Meeting (10). From June 21 to 26th is Nursing Home Week. There will be several special activities going on. Please keep these important dates in mind and there will be more information on this significant week in the next column Monday (11th) we held a bowling match. Our top scorer was Becky + Gray with 87 pts. Congratulations! Tuesday was choir. A large group gathered around the piano and join- ed in for a melody of old favourites. Scouts challenged for Participaction Day Seagrave and Area News | by Diane Cooke % The Seagrave Sunday School An- niversary Service will be next Sun- day, May 31st, at 11:00 a.m. Guest speaker will be Millie Noakes. Also, the Seagrave congregation will go to ~Join Greenbank on June 7th for their Sunday School Anniversary Service then on June 14th with Pinedale. Scouting news this. week is: the cubs, scouts and beavers here have been challenged by the 1st Scugog Scouting Group to do a 15 minute ex. ercise program on W ed. May 27th "Fitness Day" They are looking for an 80 percent turnout as this challenge has been accepted. On Wednesday, May 27th 7:00 p.m at 7 Robin Glade Drive the scouts are to meet to do their program. After: wards they will have refreshments. Lets see if we can beat 1st Sc Ugogs 80 percent participation. The "Boy plus one" pot luck din- ner is Monday June 1st at 6:30 p.m. at Greenbank Hall I vou have not been contacted about a food item please call Barb Ward 985-7439 or Sue Williams at 985-3725. - Happy Birthday wishes to Diane Knutson from your family and friends. He was born at Greenbank on December 10, 1914. His parents were the late Albert and Nellie Phoenix RONDA EDELLE WILLIAMSON Ronda" Edelle 'Williamson who passed away as a result of a car ac- cident on February 6, 1987 was born in Ajdx & Pickering Hospital on February 11, 1969, 'lived in Bay Ridges, then moved to Port Perry and was living in Greenbank till her death. She was a grade 12 student at Port Perry High School, a member of the Drama Class, was known and liked by all students, sadly missed by all students and the small community of Greenbank Ronda is survived by father & mother, Ronald & Sheila Williamson of Greenbank, brothers Ronald of Whitby, Randy of Uxbridge, Ron Abbott of Uxbridge, Terry of Green bank, sister Tammy & brother-in- law Pete Kuyper. nephews Johnathon, Christopher, and one mece Kassaunera of Valentia Funeral services were held at Scugog Memorial Funeral Chapel, Port Perry. There was a service held in the chapel. February 10, 1987 Interment held April 29. 1987. 11:30 a.m. at Greenbank Cemetery by Dan Martin & Mr Watson of Scugog Memorial uneral Chapel He is survived by a sister, Kathleen Leask of Seagrave, a brother Fred Phoenix of Greenbank and eight nieces.and nephews. A sister, Marjorie Beaton died before him. A retired beef farmer, Franklin was well known and liked by young and old as shown by so many who called to pay their respects at the Wagg Funeral Home. Funeral service was held at the Wagg McDermott Panabaker Funeral Home, Tuesday, April 28, 1987 at 1:30 p.m. followed by burial at Greenbank Cemetery Rev. David Shepherd officiated. Pallbearers were John Leask, Ralph Dusty, Neil Hunter, Clifford Midgely, Russell Carnaghan ang Harry Hill In the evening the Port Perry Pentecostal Church provided a service. On the 13th, a Residents Council Meeting was on the agenda. Items for discussion were new elections, trip suggestions, the formation of an organizing committee and decisions of buying outdoor furniture, gas barbecue and a VCR. After supper hour the Port Perry Craft Club met for a meeting in which they asked the residents to join in. They took part in making Wooden ducks. The craft club brought all of the materials needed and worked with a resident on a one-to-one basis which worked out great. Thursday was crafts. They were busy making ribbons for the nurses for Nurse Appreciation Day. . On Friday, May 15th our patio party was scheduled but due to cool weather we held a Tea Party in the dining room. Mrs. Louise Hartney provided us with an afternoon of fun and laughter. Afterwards we all en- joyed a variety of dips and chips. We "managed to have a great afternoon despite the outside weather. After the long weekend it was back to the many activities on Tues- day, May 19th with a movie. 'Everyone enjoyed watching a show on Japan and another on Safety of Boating. Afterwards we played a game of Bible Trivia. During the evening hours the Port Perry Anglican Church provided a service. The following day (Wed.) we - celebrated Nurses. Appreciation Day. The residents served the staff cake & refreshments and some small gifts were given out. All the nurses wore a ribbon throughout the day that was given to them by the residents. On behalf of the staff we would like to thank the residents for the special attention on this par- ticular day. Thursday arrived with everyone in good spirits and we all welcom- ed back Riet O to our exercise class. Riet hds been away on holidays and missed her great- ly while she was away. The after- noon was spent doing crafts. Some of the ladies have been working on cutting out quilt blocks while others -are making golf ball dogs. Another group made up some stewed rhubarb. To end the week on Friday a games day was held. We also had entertainment provided for us by Mr. Archie Walker. We all enjoyed the delightful sing-song.
