Sarasoda is manufactured by Holiday Juice Ltd., a subsidiary of Labatt's Brewery. Mrs. Duchemin said that "parents, retailers and manufac- turers all share the responsibility for providing information and en- suring that people buying these pro- ducts are fully informed as to their content before deciding to purchase them." She said several stores in the Port Perry area carry Sarasoda. Ske has contacted store owners and receiv- ed assurances from them that their staff and clerks will screen pur- chasers and refuse to sell it to young children. "For adults seeking a low alcohol content drink, this type of beverage offers a good alternative, but what does it offer children," said Mrs. Duchemin. She noted that the makers of Sarasoda have recommended that it not be sold to children. Obituary ROBERT BRUCE HOLTBY. 'Robert Bruce Holtby passed away at Sunnybrook Hospital on Friday, May 8, 1987 after a 5 year, hard fought battle with cancer. Bruce was born September 18, 1919 to the late William Holtby and Edith Bruce. He received his childhood education at Prospect School and stayed at home on the farm to help his father. In 1944 he married the former Jean McDonald and they farmed for 25 years just half a mile down the. highway from his birthplace. Their 3 children, Bill, Gordon and Janette were born during those years. After 25 years of a very busy life as a dairy farmer, Bruce sold his farm and built a house and barn on land he owned !2 mile west of Highway 12 on the second line of ~ Reach. This was always jokingly referred to as his retirement, but in actual fact, he merely changed the colour of his cattle from black and white to red and white. Always a big strong man whose hobby was har work, Bruce continued to farm and enjoy a chat with a friend or neighbour. Five years ago he started a bat- tle with cancer and right up until he entered hospital for the last time on April 13, he continued to say, "I'm going to lick this thing." He almost did! Bruce is survived by his wife, Jean; son Bill and his, wife Linda of Port Perry, son Gordon at home and daughter Janette and her husband Gary Giles of Whitby. His three grandchildren, Christy Holtby of Port Perry and Justin and Jeremy Giles of Whitby have been a source of great pride and joy during these last trying years. Bruce is also survived by a brother Byron of Port Perry and was predeceased by his sister Jean. Bruce will always = be remembered as a man of great . strength and ambition and a good neighbour. Funeral services were held at the Wagg-McDermott-Panabaker Funeral Home on Monday, May 11, 1987. Pallbearers were Lloyd Smith, Robert Powell, Claire Vernon, Jack Gray, Lorne Jones and Gordon McDonald. Bruce was laid to rest at the Breadalbane Church Cemetery, Utica, Ontario.
