26 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, June 2, 1987 The Greenbank Gamblers had a good week as they came out on top in a pair of tight ball games and moved into second place in the Oshawa City & District "A" Division. Top spot is still held by the undefeated Stouffville squad who continue to roll along behind the outstanding pitching of Jim Chilvers and John Annis. Last Monday night in Greenbank " Park the Gamblers Mark Goreski and Oshawa ACL ace Doug Spencer,' hooked up in a dandy pitchers duel which Mark Goreski and the Gamblers finally. won by a 2-1 score. Greenbank opened the scoring when George Redshaw singled in the second inning and came around to score on Rodd Real's long triple to centre field. This run held up until the top of the sixth inning when Rich Shoemaker hit a home run to tie the game. However, in the bottom of the sixth Terry Till led off the inning with a single and Don Beatons single put runners on first and third. George Redshaw drew an inten- tional base on balls and the go-ahead run scored on John Fosters ground ball fielders choice : Mark Goreski retired the Oshawa team in order in the seventh inning _ and Greenbank had a 2-1 victory.
