Mr. Waite interspersed much humour in his address, as humour is the essence of life, he stated. Through education we gain a widen- ing knowledge, a large circle of friends, and acquaintance. We con- tribute to others' lives by serving. Although our teaching and sharing values in life may never be' acknowledged in words, he said, they are remembered. Apprecia- tion, recognition, and love are im- portant factors in life. The Grade 5 choir from Sunderland Public Schobl, under the direction of Mrs. Debbie De Jong, sang several lively numbers from their musical about '"Wheels." The teachers appreciated their fine con- tribution and presented them with a monetary token. Our Honorary President, Miss Cora Bailey, had attended the 50th Anniversary of the Rendez-Vous Club, the first branch of the Women Teachers' Group. She stated that it was this group that was responsible for the organization of the O.ASW.T. They pledged to im- prove pensions, and instigated the initial planning for your better pensions. Mrs. Dorothy Montgomery, Executive-Secretary OASWT noted that her office had changed over to computer and 5263 names were now computerized. The Newsletters that had just been sent out cost $890.12 for postage, let alone the cost of the Newsletter itself. Mrs. Keitha Richards, Director for Area 7, spoke of some of the rewards of her job - making new friends and gaining new ideas. She said her attempts to get a bus for the Annual in Sudbury met with too many problems to make it feasible. Mrs. Marion Johnson led in a novel sing-song of 'When You Wore A Tulip." Mrs. Audrey Lee held several draws for plants. The winners were: Closest Birthday- a guest, Ethel Tooley; Closest Number- Jean Sanderson; Number of Beans in a Jar- Eleanor Rennie; Most Great Grandchildren- Mildred Teel & Katherine Crosier; Closest Anniversary- Keitha Richards. Senior Citizens dance okie pokie for Challenge by E. Irvine The Senior Citizens held their regular meeting on Wednesday, May 27th. The meeting was opened by our president welcoming a good crowd We had four new members After business was discussed, we closed the meeting with tea and cookies We then took part in Participac tion Day by doing the bird dance and - the okie pokie, which was fun. The rest of the afternoon was spent play . ing euchre. At 5:30 we enjoyed a pot- "luck supper. All in all we had a very good day There will be a euchre on Wednes- day, June 3 at 1:30 at the Latcham Centre.
