Bill Ballinger Ballinger victorious in race Bill Ballinger of Uxbridge easily defeated Vic Wilson of Stouffville last Friday night for the honour of representing the Durham-York Liberals in the next provincial election. Ballinger is reported to have out- polled Wilson by 5-1 in his first taste / of Provincial politics. He is the former Mayor of Uxbridge and has been operating a retail/wholesale business in Uxbridge for the past two years. A series of 10 concerts have been organized for the summer by Bill Barr as a special project to get more use out of the Rotary Club bandshell. : Mr. Barr has received some financial support from Scugog coun- cil as well as a number of local businesses to get this summer series of concerts underway, and it is hoped that the crowds will get larger as the weeks go by. The next concert to take place will be this Tuesday (tonight) with the R.H. Cornish Band and Choir per- forming. All concerts are weather permitting, and if you don't want to sit on the grass, bring a lawn chair. Mr. Barr estimates there were about 80 adults present for the first concert and admitted he was *'a lit- tle disappointed with the turnout."
