Family members, former teaching colleagues and friends from the community and many other areas joined the three ladies in their 'special' day. Prin- cipal Roden Rutledge chaired the 'short programme. Mr. Robert Mar- tin brought- greetings from Ad- ministration of Durham Board, Jill VanCamp spoke on behalf of the students, Joyce Kelly brought greetings from the Durham Board and Tom Thompson spoke on behalf of the staff. Each teacher was presented with a beautiful clock from the staff. Following the presen- tation each teacher spoke with various ancedotes from her teaching career. Many friends and colleagues poured tea at the lovely tea table which was graced by decorated cakes. Best Wishes are extended to you all. Many happy returns are extend- ed to Mrs. Belle Werry on her bir- thday last week. She received a great gift-when her son Neil was released earlier than expected from Oshawa hospital. On Sunday afternoon many friends and relatives attended the Open House in the Christian Educa- tion Hall of the United Church in honour of Herb and Jean Swain's fif- now on video ... tieth Wedding Anniversary. Sisters and sisters-in-law of the bride and groom poured tea at the beautiful tea table while grandchildren presided over the guest book. Guests were welcomed by the family Miriam, Don and Ralph. Following the Open House, Herb and Jean and their immediate family gathered at the home of Don and Louise, Stacey and Scott for a family dinner. Also present were Miriam Bennett, of Peterborough, Ralph and Joan Swain, Laurie -and Brett. Best Wishes Herb and Jean for many more years of happiness. Mrs. Margaret Pascoe of Whitby was a weekend guest of Roy and Edith McLaughiin. Karen Cole and her daughter Lori and Marilyn Locke hosted a bridal shower in honour of bride-to-be Theresa Klemencic on Thursday evening. After the bride-to-be open- ed her many beautiful gifts she replied fittingly. The guests enjoyed a social time over a dainty lunch. Ivan Thompson remains in serious * condition in Oshawa hospital. The happy news is that he has shown some improvement since he took the stroke last week. Sympathy is extended to Tom Drury and his family on the passing of his wife Catherine after a lengthy illness.
