The Scugog Chamber of Com- merce has tried to make this a weekend that is exciting for all age groups, so whether you're a youngster or oldster, there is something for you. Don't miss a chance to see Port Perry from the air as a helicopter will be taking people for rides over the lake and town from behind the Scugog Memorial Library. And if you don't want to go that high, on Saturday, the Labatt's hot air balloon will be tethered at the lakefront and will be giving free rides (weather permitting). The Dunk Tank returns to the front street this year and this is a great opportunity to try out that pit- ching arm. For those interested in Scuba or Skin Diving, there will be demonstrations and tryouts in the Birdseye Pool all day on both Fri- day and Saturday. For the kiddies, there is a great line-up of entertainment which in- cludes: A kiddies parade and best ? decorated bike contest (see article elsewhere in this issue), kiddies races at the old lawn bowling green on Saturday; there is a magical (From page 1) concept for Port Perry." And what Festival would be com- plete without a midway. Again this year, a large midway with rides and concessions will be set-up on the old arena pad, and if it proves as popular as in the past, it will be a busy place. For those who like the sounds of the Bahamas and Carribean, there. will be a steel drum band,~Jerry Jerome and the Cardells on Queen Street for much of Friday and Satur- day to keep the spirit of the Islands going. And if that's not enough, patrons to the Festival Tent will be treated to 'Boss and the Conch Casimir Streets. One of the few concerns about the plan was the lack of parking for the proposal, and council told the developers that they will probably have to give cash in lieu of parking spaces for the number that they are short. Councillor Lawrence Malcolm was concerned that the lack of park- ing would be a detriment to the pro- posal, and said the developers should make sure they have enough. Mayor Jerry Taylor, told the delegation that council seems to be favourable to the idea, but they would refer it to a planning meeting to discuss it-further, and would give them an answer as soon as possible. = ITS TIME!
