T T------------ Birdseye Poll closed due to murky water Birdseye Pool in Port Perry was ordered closed Monday morning by the Durham Health Unit because the clarity of the water was not up to standards. "An inspection by the Health Unit has also asked that the depth markings around the pool be re- painted. Township parks crews were working on the water clarity problem on Monday and ad- ministrator Earl Cuddie said Mon- day evening "to the best of my knowledge the pool should re-open Tuesday.'* (today) He said the murky water problem was a result of the high temperatures and the fact the pool has had a lot of use during the weekend heat wave. If Birdseye Pool is forced to stay closed for several days, it will mean both public swimming areas in. Port Perry are out of bounds. The Health Unit has posed war- nings at the beach that high bac- teria levels in the water there make it un-fit for swimming. (see Soparats story on front page) Better In The Bahamas?
