Peter Emming of Vancouver call- ed on friends in the area over the weekend. Paul and Shirley Baster have been holidaying at Lake of Bays - their daughter Julie and her friend Anne Tapscott visited them for the weekend. Douglas and Beth Wilson had a "farm shower" on Friday evening for their friends Garry and Eleanor Paisley of Stouffville, who had the misfortune to lose their barn by fire in June.They have bought a farm and we do wish them every success in their new home. Garry is in- terested in young people's activities and is 4-H leader for Dairy Calf Club in this area. On Sat. Earl and Marie Wilson met Scott at the airport. Scott had been two weeks at Muskegan, . Michigan attending a Leadership Conference Camp. Scott was there as part of a 4-H group. Donald and Stella Asling and Dr. Pat Asling visited the Wild Life Festival at Buckhorn on Saturday. They were particularly interested in the hand carving. Tanya and Michael Wilson are visiting their aunt and uncle Keith and Ann Wilson and family at their cottage at Orillia. Nancy and Gerald Hill, Kelly and Chris visited Sunday afternoon and had supper with the Tapscotts at their cottage. Elmer and Ruth Wilson were din- ner guests on Sunday with Miss Ruby Wilson. There will be a special Church Board Meeting on Tues. August 25th Utica news by Vera Brown Church this Sunday will be held at the Redwood's in Goodwood at 11 a.m., which will be followed by a pot-luck lunch. In the event of rain, service will be held in Goodwood Church. All members of the U.C.W. are asked to meet at Elizabeth Taylor's on Monday the 24th for choir prac- tise and to make arrangements for the upcoming Church service on the 30th. I believe it's at 1:30 p.m. that we are to meet. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. . Grant Bright in the recent bereave- ment of her brother Mr. John Haden of Brampton. Recent visitors with Mrs. Crosier were Elliott and Marjorie Harr- ington of Cambray, Dean and Gloria Beare and Derek of Oshawa. Sharon Croxall spent a couple of days this past week soaking up a lit- tle bit of Shakespeare in Stratford. Lorne and. Eileen Slute have a new granddaughter born on August 9th to Ken and Lori. Congratula- tions. Jeffrey Slute spent a few days last week visiting with his grand- parents on the farm and this week Adam Ross is spending a few days. Lorne and Eileen visited on Sunday with son Brian and family at Cookstown. We were in charge of our grand- children for a couple of days while their parents got away for a weekend of fishing. Mr. Howard Gourlie Sr., and Mrs. Doris Armstrong accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gourlie of Oshawa on a trip o Ameliasburg in Prince Edward County to visit her aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gibson. Mrs. Gibson was a sister of Doris' mother. They had no rain in this part of Ontario and everything was very parched.
