The Nestleton Ladies Aid met at dthe home of Norma Wolfe, Kent 4 Street, Port Perry, with president 1 Dorothy Lee opening the meeting 1 with a cordial welcome to all, and 1 a thank you to Norma for the use of her home. She read a poem "Friend" and hymn, "Come Ye { Thankful People Come' was sung, { followed by "The Lord's Prayer." The devotional, "Blessing of Harvest' from St. John, was presented by Norma. She played a tape of Thanksgiving, which is us- fed in the church they attend in | Destin, Florida, during the winter 1 months. A meaningful worship period! - Minutes were approved as read. During business...a motion was passed that the Ladies Aid pay Mr. sharpe for work done in the © church...and other bills be paid. Fif- + ty church calendars were on hand | for sale at $2.00 each. Cards were signed for baby Death of Nestleton, a get well and thank you to Olive ' Heaslip...get well to Dora Gillson of Port Perry Villa and a birthday card to Bertha McLaughlin. Fun Fair Enjoyed An enjoyable "Fun Fair' at Solina, on Wed., Oct. 21, was held by - Durham West Institutes. Those at- : tending from Nestleton were Rika © Wygerde, and two guests from Holland, Doris Nottingham, Doris Grills, Neta Fish, Bertha - McLaughlin, Norma Frew and Win- nifred Davison. Following the pro- gram the draw for prizes was held. A lovely array of home baking...and Country Store items were soon sold, and a lunch of sandwiches and cookies, tea and coffee enjoyed. The . proceeds go to the Durham West ~ District Women's Institute funds. Nestleton Presbyterian Church At 11:00 A.M. Standard Time, Rev. Fred Swann conducted the | morning service at Nestleton - Presbyterian Church, with Mrs. Joyce Taylor presiding at the organ. ~ Psalm 2 was read in unison, and the Scripture reading was I Romans © 1-32. Continuing with the study of the < Psalms, Rev. Swann spoke on ""Man's Vagrancy" - the first part of Psalm 2 - as the people turn away and do not accept the Kingdom of God. Social Items of Interest At the Thanksgiving weekend...George & Ella Bowers of Nestleton, were Sunday guests with son Bert & Marilyn Bowers, John & Brian of Oshawa. Dorothy & Rae Carson of Dwight, were Monday din- ner guests with her parents, George & Ella Bowers. Constable Jerry Bowers of Peter- borough, and sister Helen Vine of Port Perry, were overnight guests with Dorothy & Rae Carson of Dwight...a beautiful drive up the Dorset Highway. On Monday, Mrs. Neta Fish, Nestleton, daughter Marlene Ban- nister and friend, Roy Fitzgerald of Peterborough, went to Oshawa for a day of shopping for Neta's new apartment. Quite a fulfulling day! Friday evening, Mrs. Merle Heintzman and Mrs. Neta Fish, went to Lindsay Hospital to visit Mrs. Heather Munroe, who has been a patient there for almost two weeks. Best wishes to Heather for better health soon. Neta Fish attended a birthday party on Sunday afternoon for Mr. Isaac Hardy who enjoyed his 90th birthday this past Monday. The celebration was held in the Solina Hall...where Neta met many friends during the lovely tea hour. Our warmest wishes to Mr. Hardy for many more good years. Caesarea Community Church An average congregation for the Caesarea Church or Sunday morn- ing at 11 AM. Rev. Dr. W.H. Crawford spoke on, '"The Road Of Opportunity" to do with the rich merchant filling his barns...and he had to have bigger barns and so forth. There is nothing wrong in be- ing rich...But...the wrong use of it...the wealth should be contributed to something more than earthly things. Caesarea Euchre At last weeks Wednesday game of cards...first prize winner was Eva MacDonald with 49, second was a tie with Albert Watts & James Emer- ton each holding 65. Low score - Kathy Watts, with 42. Refreshments were served by Eva MacDonald & Anne Harran. James Emerton won the prize for the most lone hands for the month of October with 10. Villa esilents Entertained The Nestleton afternoon Unit of the U.C.W. presented a variety pro- gramme on Thursday afternoon for the pleasure of the Villa residents of Port Perry, with Unit Leader Jean Williams at the helm. Neta Fish was convenor of the programme and made the lovely birthday cake for the two gentlemen celebrating...Mr. Ewen & Mr. Bar- nhart. After sing songs, readings, jokes, dialogues, and plenty of humour - gifts were presented and birthday cake along with a beverage was served. A pleasant afternoon of visiting was a "highlight" as well! Very pleased to have Lawrence Malcolm with us - he really was a great help with the excellent pro- gramme! We appreciate his humour as well! Nestleton United Church Celebrates In Style On a cool fall Sunday, October 25, 11 A.M. with Muriel Sims & family greeters at the door... Nestleton folks saw a fine attendance for the An- niversary celebration'..152 years for the congregation and 87 years in the present sanctuary...another milestone for Nestleton United Church. Rev. Dale Davis conducted the service and introduced the Anniver- sary speaker the Rev. Cliff Waite from Oakwood - Manilla charge and creator of the Padre's column in the Post's Vision. The minister presented a splendid message with plenty of humour thrown in at inter- vals..but gave the congregation much to think about...dwelling on many problems of Society today. His topic, "A Well, A Tent, and An Altar," based on Scripture lessons from Genesis 26: selected verses and I Corinthians 13. The Ladies Quartet accompanied by organist Gwen Malcolm, and the Junior choir accompanied by Herb Vine on the guitar...sang lovely, ap- propriate numbers in keeping with the anniversary. The children's theme was of interest to the youny fry! This fine service closed with the sturdy old hymn, "The Churches One Foundation" written by Samuel S. Wesley in 1810-1876...
