On Saturday the boys came up against a vastly superior King City team and deserve credit for keeping the score as close as it was. Although we let in 7 goals, Mat Willetts was outstanding in net as he faced 35 shots. On Saturday the Stone gang hosted Orono in a league game and were extremely flat losing by the score of 6-2. On Thursday, October 29, they were defeated by a strong O'Neill squad. On Tuesday, November 3, the girls played a strong offensive game against Vanier, winning 54-8. The girls winning streak continued against Donevan on Thursday, November 5. The junior girls continued their winning streak during their trip to Kingston. They defeated the No. 1 team in Kingston showing everyone how good they really are. They played Vanier on Tuesday, November 3, being victorious with a score of 105-7. However, on Thurs- day, October 29, they came up short against a powerful O'Neill team. The senior girls played Thursday, October 29, against a team from O'Neill that had a definite height ad- vantage, and on Thursday, November 5, against Donevan. The team lost to both of the opposing teams. The P.P.H.S. cross-country team did extremely well at the DYSSA meet on Thursday, October. 29. Laura Mark placed 2nd in the midget girls division and Kari Gilbert advanced to OFSSA with her 7th place finish in the senior girls division. Petites win big The Port Perry Kinette Petite C Ringette team was successful in their first home game, beating Bob- caygeon 11-0 on Saturday night. In less than one minute of play, Linda Payne, assisted by Vicki Stainton, opened the scoring. Linda added 2 more goals and 1 assist to her record before the night was over. Playing for the first time this season, Angie Wierzbicki scored 2 goals and assisted on 3 others. The P.P.H.S. rugby team played in a tournament on Thursday, The Juniors are well into the 1987-88 season. Sunday November 8th saw the girls up against Mariposa. This game was a fast moving, end to end game, with many chances for both teams to score. Kerri Allen had a great game bet- ween the pipes, despite Port losing 6-5. Leading the scoring was Kelly Calloway with a hat trick, Lisa Levy 1 goal, 1 assist, Nicole Slack 1 goal, with 2 assists each to Rachel 9 defeating Lawrence Park 12-0, and 18-0. Tween Ringette team opened their new season in fine style with a 12-7 victory in Bobcaygeon. The girls got 3 goals in the first period and then exploded for 9 more in the second, Valerie Payne led the way with 4 goals and one assist, Nicki Beare had 3 goals and one assist. Other pointgetters were Christine Mueller with 1 goal and 1 assist and Mandy Porter with 2 'goals. More girls could have figured in the scoring but there were only 4 assists awarded on the 12 goal total. Bristol Sleep played in goal for the first time in her first ever ringette game and did a fine job for Port Perry. On Sunday the girls played their home opener and came away with a 9-6 victory over Lindsay. This time most of the scoring came in the first half with 7 goals in the opening period. Nicki Beare, in a great effort, picked up 5 points, Nicki scored 3 goals and added 2 assists. Valerie Payne got 3 goals. Danielle Cooper and Kelly Menzies added 1 goal and 1 assist each.
