ER ER i i Sl wilt Nestleton-Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Remembrance Day Thought, Lest We Forget in a jaded and distraught world we recall memories of those brave laddies who ... in two world wars paid the supreme sacrifice with their lives so that we might live. Then too ... we remember those who have lost their loved ones. It 1s well that a nation pause ... even if only for a brief period, sober- Iv. to remember the lives that have been sacrificed. Since 1945, we have enjoyed a longer period of peace and freedom from a major war than any other period in this century. Imperfect though the peace has been ... it is much better than war. let us pause and remember the fallen heroes on this Wednesday, November 11th. If we do, we will have kept the faith! The only thing that distinguishes work from pleasure is which activity you prefer doing. That wraps up my little bit of news for this week. Some goodies left over, to catch up with next week! Head UCW ladies work at the tuck shop Scugog Island Area News by Mrs. Earl Reader Ladies ot the "Head" U.C.W. and their friends will be at the Hospital Tuck Shop the week of November 16. So please choose your most conve- nient day to serve. The "Head" U.C.W. will celebrate a Christmas meeting and mystery sister supper Nov. 25 at the same Island spot as last year where everything was much enjoyed. Ron Whittingham of Australia, the husband of the former Linda Eastwood will certainly never forget his present visit to Canada. It is the first time he has seen snow, as his section of Australia does not get that pleasure. Being city raised it was also a new experience to try to usher calves from a burning building on Wednesday night at the Redman barn fire. This fire was certainly a shock for the whole community to lose this landmark of possibly 90 years and affect this family of pioneer paren- tage which had done so much for it's community through the years. But it was amazing in the hour of need how the country and town friends rallied immediately to give help and strength. : In spite of the disappointing disaster all were reminded of the worse things that could have hap- pened re - time, weather etc. Mrs. Bonnie Gerrow accom- panied by her sister has just return- ed from an enjoyable bus trip through Texas and surrounding area.
