RA iL Santa Claus is coming soon! With only about 2!» weeks until the Santa Claus Parade, members of the Scugog Chamber of Com- merce are busy registering floats, bands, clowns and other entries for the parade. There is still a need for more floats if the parade is to be a suc- cess, so if your group is planning to participate, organizers are asking you to register now, so they can be better prepared for planning the parade. Again this year the parade will be assembling at the Port Perry Fairgrounds and the racetrack will be used to line up the entries. The parade will proceed from the Fairgrounds, down Lilla Street to Queen Street, and through the downtown core. Following the parade Santa will be at the Latcham Centre giving out bags of candy, and Canada Post will be collecting letters to Santa. Kids are asked to address their letters to Santa Claus, c/o Canada Post, North Pole. Local post office employees will be on hand while Santa is at the Latcham Centre col- lecting the kids letters. Chamber of Commerce parade organizers are also asking the co- operation of the public in removing their cars from Queen Street prior to the parade, so the kids can view the parade without obstructions. Police and members of the Chamber will be on the street in the morning requesting motorists to park elsewhere. Goreski requests added campsites Phil Goreski, representing Goreski Marina and Trailer Park on Scugog Island was at council Mon- day morning with a request to in- crease the number of seasonal trailer sites on their campgrounds by 100. "We have given up the idea of the mobile home site, but would like to add more seasonal trailer sites to our park," he told council. In order to increase the park from the present 300 sites to 400 sites, Mr. Goreski will have to apply to amend the present by-law as it limits the number of sites. Councillor Lawrence Malcolm suggested to Mr. Goreski that if he has to make an amendment, he may as well ask for 500 sites, or he may be back in a few years to get another amendment. In giving Mr. Goreski approval in principal for the expansion of park sites, Mr. Malcolm said 'I have to support this increase if I am going to support tourism in our community." Mayor Taylor echoed the remark saying that tourism is the second largest industry in the Province of Ontario and that this industry generates a lot of money for the community. Mr. Goreski will now make an ap- plication with the township for the additional sites.
