PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 17, 1987 -- 7 FIX-UP SPECIAL CRC SHINGLES 21 Bundles Assorted Shingles ~ Open Bundles Cat caught in trap (From page 1) was what happened to Angel. "I don't know what else could have mangled the leg like that," Dr. Macko said. 'You don't see many, but when you do, you sure recognize it. It's a gruesome thing." - While much of the Chambers neighbourhood is seasonal cottages, enough people live there year round to call it a community. Many families have small children, like the Chambers, and while Mrs. Chambers is upset about what hap- pened to Angel, she is more concern- ed and scared about a similar inci- dent happening to her children. She's also angry, and can't - believe trappers would be so foolish B® Manhattan SAFETY GRAB BARS as to place their traps in a residen- £5 00 Curved Cees tt IIT TEs tt een £29.25 tial area. The per- & OVE RF LOW son who did this can't live around here. They'd know better," Mrs. * - 14.99 Chambers said. '"They must be from out of town." She has also heard gunshots in the bush behind their house, and along with neighbours, is concerned about stray shots. The bush, she says, is private property, owned by friends. "They'd never allow hunters there," she said. ""There's No Hun- ting and No Trespassing signs all over. But we still hear shots." According to Conservation Officer Never be stuck in the snow! But as Mr. Bevan pointed out, most trappers are exceedingly careful about their trap lines. With so much anti-trapping sentiment already in existence, most trappers obey the rules. He suspects the person who set the trap for Angel, isn't a full-time trapper. "I would expect that probably so- meone who set this one isn't an avid trapper,' he said. "Full-time trap- pers don't want any trouble." Most trapping, he added, is done near water, but only with permis- sion from property owners. Sgt. Sandy Garvock of Durham Regional Police told Mrs. Chambers to keep her eye out for any strange vehicles, and to get their license plates. It's the best way, he said, to keep unwanted hunters or trappers clear of the neighbourhood. "It's a common problem all over the whole Region," Sgt. Garvock told the Star. Already, the Chambers have discussed the problem with their neighbours. "We're pulling together on this," she said. "I'm constantly looking out the window and taking the kids out for walks, watching for any strange cars) "Yeah, we're very upset about the cat," she added. "But our real con- cern is our children." clistie bud centre 0 ¢ QUALITY PRODUCTS . eee PC cess" ae ee . are ee care" "se se eer os ane are eens" eer ae .e eer oe pe sins ver ae "oe PE RPE eer PR "e ver covers? ser ae 4300BV - Jigsaw .................. 226.95 5007NB - 7%" Circular Saw ... 210.95 6012HDL Cordless Drill with Flash Light & Case ........ 275.95 6071DWK - 3/8" Drill Cordless v.s.
