Port controlled most of the play in this game and were leading 2-1 go- ing into the third period. In the third period, though the boys started to take penalties and this gave Bowmanville the breaks they needed. Scoring for Port were Jeff Card assisted by Sean McEnaney and Steve Desautels, Billy Sandiford unassisted and Sean McEnaney unassisted. On Thursday the Stone gang travelled to the Civic Auditorium to play the Minor Black Hawks. Once again Port controlled the play from 'the start of the game confusing the Oshawa team with some fine pass- ing and team work. Sean McEnaney, Steve Desautels, Brendon Agnew and Darrell Vanderslagt with his first of the year, did the scoring for Stones. Jeff Card picked up 3 assists while Billy Sandiford, McEnaney, Agnew, Vanderslagt, Desautels and Gar- vock all picked up one assist. Steve Stiles stopped every shot directed his way to make the final score 6-0 for Port. The boys next outing is this com- ing weekend when they travel to Shelbourne for a tournament. Their next home game is Dec. 12 against Millbrook. Hope to see you there. Young curlers earn badges Five Junior curlers from Port Perry have successfully completed the first level in the Ontario Skills Award program which is designed to help young curlers improve their individual proficiency in this sport. Carrie Fielding, Tania Fielding, Mike Flynn, Ian Thompson and Jason Towns took the test on November 13 and last Thursday they were presented with the red badges symbolic of this level. The program is a five level series of tests starting with red and pro- gressing to blue, bronze, silver and gold. All skills in the program must be executed using the Curl Canada techniques. To obtain their red badge, the young cui lers had to demonstrate JR. several skills including proper: delivery, correct hip elevation and a balanced forward slide with and without the rock. They also had to accumulate a minimum of five points throwing each turn, throwing both turns with take-out weight and answer a quiz on reading the scoreboard and identifying the markings on the ice. The Junior Curling program for Port Perry and area young people is proving very popular with curling held at the Port Perry Club after school five nights per week. The five young curlers who com- pleted level one in the Skills Award program are to be congratulated for their achievement.
