2 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, December 1, 1987 The Gingerbread house ~~ challenge open to anyone bh ade St be Me Re ll What's more Christmassy than the sweet smell of fresh ginger- bread, hot from the oven? What fires the imagination of a youngster like "a beautifully decorated gingerbread house? We can't think of anything else. Gingerbread houses, though often a challenge to make, are a Christmas tradition that never loses appeal. The centrepiece of any holi- day table, they draw more com- pliments than any other decoration. This year, the Port Perry Star is holding a Gingerbread House Con- test, open to everyone in Scugog Township. There's only one rule-the houses must be homemade. Pre-made gingerbread walls are allowable, but the decorations must be applied by hand. The most creative and beautiful house will be given first prize, $50 cash plus a gift from the Port Perry Star. Two honourable mentions will receive $25 each.
