A alin, "hl LE i 6 Girls from CHS win a thriller by Claire MacKenzie On Tuesday November 24, the C.C.P.S. gymnasium in Blackstock was the site of an exciting basket- ball game as the Cartwright High School Midget Girls team challeng- ed a team from Holy Cross School of Woodbridge for the DYSSAA Midget "A" Championship. This was a close, fast-paced game that kept everybody watching right up until the final buzzer. The CHS team steadily improved as the season progressed and they were at their best in this game. In the first half, Cartwright held an eight point lead that Holy Cross slowly erased. In the second half, the lead changed hands twice hut neither team could increase its lead to more than two points. As the seconds ticked away, Cart- wright held on to a two-point lead. At the final buzzer, however, Holy Cross was awarded a foul shot which gave them a chance to tie the game. Everyone held their breath and watched as the shot missed the basket and CHS was declared the champion. Final score: Cartwright 8, Holy Cross 26. High scorers for Cartwright were Yvette Renes and Jill Van Camp with 12 points each. Congratulations to Mr. Fletcher and the Midget Girls!
