Wednesday of course was our first real taste of winter and members of the **Head" U.C.W. wondered about their planned Mystery Sister Supper at 'The Islander." However, some concerned husbands drove over the most hazardous roads so that 21 ladies arrived on time. We were all pleased to again have a chance to meet with Linda (Eastwood) Whit- . tingham, now of Australia and plan-- ning her families departure this week. Though we were at "The Islander' in the Goreski direction last year, we were pleasantly sur- prised to see the several changes & improvements where the dining area is separated from the dance area and the decor is very attrac- tive. Dining can be quite private and carried over for the evening. The food is perfect _and served very graciously, if you can find room for it all. Of course, Clara Dowson, our dependable handicraft worker had decorated the tables with her usual surprises and momentos, for which we owe her many thanks. We do hope she is feeling better. oo We understand Mrs. John Edgar from the Foot of the Island is in the Port Perry Hospital. We also wish her better health. Now we are into December and Santa has already made a call in our area. Beautiful decorations are be- ing seen. Churches are emphasizing and celebrating the real meaning of Christmas with services and con- certs, accordingly, the Sunday School of the Island United will hold a concert Sunday afternoon December 13. By the way you have until this Thursday to order your plates of mixed squares and cookies from the "Friendship" U.C.W. Recently Joe & Clara Dowson helped celebrate the 20th Wedding Anniversary for their only son Jim and his wife Janet at the Cullen Barns on Steeles Ave. Then they also attended a 50th wedding anniversary Kirkfield for Wallace & Olive Osborne. But it hasn't been all good times as they recently attended Clara's aunt's funeral, Mrs. Ruby Sanguine at Lindsay. Dennis J Hogan ann Hearing Aid Consultant 985-3003 985-9192 luxury of your own home.
