Love On Dec 1st, Pine Ridge Garden Club held their final meeting for this year This was our family Christmas party in the form of a potluck supper, which as usual was enormous & delicious 1 am now fasting until Christmas). Entertain ment was performed by Country Chords, Ladies Barbershop Singers A very fun & entertaining group After the entertainment, prizes & trophies were handed out to all the year's -hard working gardeners & decorative competitors. Grace Ba jema received the Paul Johansen Vase & a Dominion Seed House Gift Certificate for the Best Flower Garden & Alice Turcotte received the Paul Johansen Bowl for the Vegetable Garden Competition High points for the year was won by Grace Bajema who was presented with the Analda Trophy & a Gift Certificate by Analda Garden Center. The Lillian Smith Trophy donated by Roy Walker Smith for the most Decorative Points was presented to Alice Turcotte & the Newton Trophy was won by Grace The new executive of the Pine Ridge Garden Club was officially named at the club's Christmas Nestleton Community Centre, on December 1. Seated, from left, is Paul Johansen, Shirley Love, Kathleen Petrie, and Claudia Party, Bajema for the most points in the Cultural Division The monthly competition ty an all-white arrangement was won by Ann-Julia Bajema who won a lovely soap & hankerchiet set donated by the Linen Corner. 2nd Grace Bajema & 3rd Shirley Love The designer winner of our Year Book for 1988 was Ann-Julia Bajema & a lovely picture was presented to her from Port Gifts. Ann-Julia was also winner of our Pine Cone Decoration & for this she was given a set of Old Fashion Xmas Tree decorations donated by Blackstock Country Hardware Store. The new executive & directors for 1988 were voted in and are as follows - Executive -- President - Kathleen Petrie, 1st Vice-President - Shirley Love, 2nd Vice-President - Paul Johansen, Secretary Claudia McDiarmid, Treasurer - Rie Hooge- veen. Directors -- Grace Bajema, Ida Hurtig, Shirley Love, Marilyn Pertan, Anita Mazzarolo, Claudia McDiarmid, Pat Kingstone, Henka Bandstra, Anne Woud, Alice Tur- cotte, Joanne Oppers and Mary Fros Turcotte, 'Wolters. Thursday & Friday TH HII, Moore Winners of the door prizes tor the evening were Betty Foote who won an electric can opener donated by Canadian Tire & Gayle Pelrine will have a carpet of her choice sham pooed, donated by Scugog Janitorail Service A Christmas cake, donated by Roy Walker Smith for the Early Bird Membership Draw was won by Claudia McDiarmid. Flower Quiz was won by Tina Wolters. The monthly competition for the Juniors - Christmas decoration was won by Michelle Bonsma, 2nd April Bonsma & 3rd Mandy Bonsma. Although the Senior Garden Club is retiring for the months of January & February, our enthusiastic Junior Garden Club will carry on under the leadership of Kathleen Petrie & Grace Bajema. This club has real- ly grown over the past year & membership 1s now up to 13 children. Cost of membership is $1.00 for the year and for more in- formation you may call Mrs. Petrie at 986-4771. The "Seniors" will be resuming their meeting on March 1, 1988, 8:00 McDiarmid.
