Honeydale Institute Christmas meeting by Lillian Harper The Christmas meeting of Honeydale Women's Institute took the form of a pot-luck luncheon at 12:30 p.m., Dec. 17th, which was en- joyed by 25 members. A special thanks was expressed to Jean Car- nochan for the lovely crocheted "favours" each of us received. Following the luncheon, our Presi- dent Mabel Cawker, conducted a short business meeting. Letters of appreciation were received from Mr. Morrison, principal of Port Perry High School, also from the recipients of the scholarships presented by Honeydale W.1. at the commencement exercises in November. For the program, we were delighted to have a musical group from Nestleton, under the leader- ship of Mrs. Gwen Malcolm, who sang several lovely selections. Many thanks to these ladies for their contribution to our program! Helen Thomson presented a splen- did resume of Christmas customs "and traditions and how they had originated, which. was most in- teresting. Several other members gave readings pertaining to Christmas, including "The Night Before Christmas' by Margaret Cornish, and a humorous version of "The Twelve Days Of Christmas" by Mabel Cawker. After the singing of several favourite Christmas carols, there was a gift exchange. Our next meeting will include an auction of articles contributed by the members, to be held, hopefully, on our regular meeting day, the first Thursday in the month- January 7th. We would like to express ap- preciation to all who brought decorations for 'Operation Scugog" parcels, or contributed to making the Christmas meeting successful. $ IF YOUR AD WAS HERE ... over 12,000 people could have read it this week!
