Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson have been enjoying callers recent- ly. Monday morning callers were Mr. and Mrs. William H. Johnston and their three children of St. Thomas. William is Ruth's nephew. Shortly after Mrs. Jack Johnston of Manotick and her daughter Ann of Ottawa called on their aunt and un- cle. Wednesday morning guests were their grandchildren John and Jan Marlow, Christopher and Dan of Concord, New Hampshire. Sympathy is extended to Ruby and Richard VanCamp and family on the passing of Ruby's father Mr. Roy Morrow who had been hospitalized for five weeks. Visita- tion and funeral services will be held at Mr. Morrow's home at Brighton. Grant and Barb Larmer, Rox- anne, Erin and Ryan returned home on Saturday after enjoying a lovely week at Harbour Inn on Lake Simcoe. Many families are enjoying out- door ice when there is so little snow. On Saturday evening Carl and Judy Gilbank held a skating party and on Sunday afternoon Jim and Barb Byers and family held a skating party on their pond. New Years Day guests of Gerald and Joyce Kelly, Elizabeth, Elaine and Esther were Mrs. Edna Kelly, Mrs. Berta Tiers, Mrs. Wilhelmine Hunter, all of Bobcaygeon, Mrs. Cora Hogg of Fenelon Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Walker, Mrs. Audrey Gilmour, all of the Lindsay area, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Hargrave of Woodville and Mr. Peter Peeters of Reaboro. On the Sunday before Christmas were Walter and Audrey Wright of Blackstock, Keith and Chris Wright and Miss Hazel Wright, all of Oshawa. A surprise 40th birthday party in honour of Ron Smith was hosted by his wife Norma at their home on Saturday night. Forty guests were in attendance to celebrate this 'special' birthday. Many happy returns, Ron. On Sunday Kathy and Neil McLaughlin, Alex, Jessica and Blake hosted a gathering for lunch in honour of Jessica's fourth birth- day. Birthday guests were Richard and Tam Gunter, Winnipeg, Jack Gunter, Ottawa, Blake and Jessie Gunter, Jean Mahaffy, Grant and Heather McLaughlin, Carla and Ab- by. Happy birthday, Jessica. A real fun day was enjoyed on Tuesday at a curling jitney at the local arena. A delicious pot luck din- ner added to the days enjoyment. Winners were 1. Elaine, skip, Lor- na Edgerton, Ann Ingram/Brian VanCamp, Jill Brown Second - Helen Nesbitt, Skip, 'Eileen McLaughlin, Roy McLaughlin and Ruby VanCamp while third place was won by Carol Gray skip, Marilyn Green, Russell Weir, and Lois Dallas. A great way to work off some of the Christmas turkey. The O.N.O. Club sponsored a very successful New Years Eve dance and party. An excellent crowd en- joyed the music provided by D.J. 'Dennis Franssen and a delicious buffet. On the 20th of December Mrs. Flora Samells joined her family Christmas party at the home of her son Melville and Dora at Bowman- ville. On Christmas Day Melvile and Dora Samells of Bowmanville, Ken Samells of Toronto, Anna Powell Molly Mairs of Orono were guests of Mrs. Flora Samells. Embassy counsellor pays a Christmas visit Mr. and Mrs. Roy McLaughlin and Mr. and Mrs. Harold McLaughlin were guests during the week of Jean and Ross Ashton at Bowmanville for a McLaughlin family gathering. Evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bradburn and family on New Years Day were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bradburn, Port Perry, Mrs. Marion Dunning, Mr. and Mrs. Harold McLaughlin. The Ferguson annual Christmas gathering was held at the Nestleton Hall on the Sunday between Christmas and New Years. There were 35 adults and 11 children in at- tendance. Grant Ferguson, Thelma WRight, Mona Dunbar, Bill Ferguson and Sandra Morton, their spouses and children all were there to join the festivities. Better health is wished for Clarence Marlow who is a patient in Port Perry Hospital. On Sunday Cinday and Dennis Werry and boys Kedron hosted a VanCamp family gathering.
