That put us out of the Mixed reaction The Scala Pee Wee hockey team travelled to Oshawa during the Christmas holidays to take part in the 2 day Checkers Variety Tourna- ment. The first game was with the McKenzie Park team. For some of the Scala team this was their first opportunity to experience body con- tact. The results were mixed - unfor- tunately early in the game Jerry Blackburn received a very hard check from behind resulting in a trip to the hospital. Brett Free also sus- tained a minor injury but soon the boys seemed to get the idea and settled into the game. Scott Foster had a couple of breakaways and one on ones but he couldn't get one past the goalie. Great moves by the McKenzie goalie earned him the M.V.P. for the game. Michael Williams was able to fire one past him though on a pass from Darryl Slack. Graham Carnegie played a' really' strong Well, back to the face-off circle. After the Christmas Holidays and a busy chedule of power skating in- struction and tournaments, the Pee Wee House League started back at their fun filled hockey games. Monday's game featured Con- sumer's Gas and Emiels. I'm told that this game was very close right into the third period. Emiels were leading going into the third and then broke open the scoring on three more goals. Consumers lone marker was scored by Mike Olaisen unassisted and Emiels goals were fired by Chad Venning 2 goals, Nicki Beare 1 goal and 1 assist, Blair Beveridge RS LL Pr PERRY tourney for the day. The boys need not feel disappointed as they have been playing excellent hockey win- ning 11 before a defeat. Then Monday, Jan. 5 - Port played a rough, penalty filled game against Port Hope at Port Perry. Port won this one 14-5 over Port Hope. After defensive game earning him the well deserved M.V.P. for Scala. Congratulations. The Scala team lost this first game and therefore played in the consolation round the next day. Due . to holiday plans and injuries it was necessary to pick up an extra player and Michael Olaisen did a fine substitute job with. really strong play. This second game was hard hit- ting with quite a few penalties on both sides. Michael Pothier, Blair Prechitko and Ben Blanchard all played well with Robbie Romano working hard in net. With a great deal of the boy's at- tention necessarily focused on lear- _ ning the finer points of body contact play they didn't tally any goals. Although both of the games were losses on the scoreboard the team members worked hard, gained ex- perience and had fun - and isn't that what it's all about! Poe Woo PIL 1 goal and 1 assist, and Darrin Hope 1 goal, Troy Hope and Adam McTaggert 1 assist each. The score ended 5-1 for Emiels. Another well played match on Wed.
