And a large crowd of interested spectators was on hand to root for their favourites as they used their strength and skill to pull for cash - prizes and trophies. Challenge organizers were very pleased with both the number of competitors and the number of spectators, and interest is already starting to build towards the next arm wrestling competitions for Port Perry to be held this July during Festival Days. The Challenge had the backing from Molsons and Gilbeys. Eric Smyth and Sean Fewer handled the refereering chores and play- by-play commentary (humourous at times) was provided by Rob Kroonenberg from Port Perry. All the matches were video- taped and if anyone is looking for a copy, they can get in touch with Mike Haigh. Several members of the Port Perry Arm Wrestling team took part in the Challenge, and on Feb. 20, they will be taking part in the Ontario Open Championships to be held in London, Ontario, which is home of several world champions.
