Laurrena and Bruce Bright 200 guests attend fiftieth anniversary On the occasion of their 50th Wedding Anniversary, Bruce & Laurrena Bright were honoured with a reception at Corinthian Hall, Columbus, Ontario with abput 200 guests in attendance. Mrs. Bright is the former Laur- rena Graham of Claremont. Mr. & Mrs. Bright were married at Columbus on January 29th, 1938 with 'the Rev. R.H. Wylie of- ficiating. They were attended by Mrs. Howard Grills and Mr. Howard Thompson. The honoured couple have one daughter Beverley Thompson and five sons- Kenneth, Donald, Robert, Neil and Clare. They also have 14 grandchildren and two ' great grandchildren. Mr. & Mrs. Bright were presented with many flowers, gifts. and congratulations. dignitary Out-of-town guests were pre- sent from Toronto, Wasago Beach, Lindsay, Myrtle, Whitby, Bowmanville, Sanford, Raglan, Port Perry, Cannington, Ux- bridge, Beaverton, Ashburn, Seagrave and Woodville. Following the reception their daughter and husband, five sons and their wives met at Krebs for an informal family dinner. Senior Citizens Club by Marion Webster The Senior Citizens met on Wed. Feb. 10th. Our president welcomed everyone. We had two new members join the club. The club showed their appreciation to Douglas Butt for cleaning the air conditioning at the hall. | Our report from Operation Scugog meeting Feb. 4 was given by Stan Rickard. Our next meeting will be followed by a Pot- Luck supper. - Later we will be entertained by Everett Prentice for dancing. All Seniors welcome. We wish all our sick a speedy recovery. The theme for the worship part of the meeting was 'Love.' Bernice Gardner led in prayer. Ruth Oliver shared a tape with the group, by Jill Briscoe who was guest speaker at a Women Alive Conference at Waterloo. Next Sunday is the first Sunday of Lent, and the Sacrament of Ho- ly Communion will be celebrated at_Burns Church. The dance, sponsored by the Ashburn Community Centre at the Thunderbird Golf Club is on Sat. Feb. 27th from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. -- $20 per couple. Tickets are available from Board members, Ashburn Store and Short's, Brooklin. There were 9 tables of euchre played at the euchre party last Thurs. evening. Ladies first prize went to Rachel Harper. Second prize to Nancy Skelding. Men's first to Terry Parrott. Second prize to Art Budd. Lone hands to Verna Draper. Joan Fleming won the door prize. 50-50 draw won by George Harper.
