BE Jitters cast brings much talent to the stage - The cast of Jitters is an exciting and interesting mixture of newcomers and stage vetrans. Rehearsals have shown tremen- dous energy and talent from the cast, all using the method system under the direction of John H. Foote. A glance at the cast: Sandy James-Mitchell (Jessica) is a newcomer to the Borelian stage, but not to theatre. Sandy worked with the Greenbank Children's Workshop Theatre on the Treasure Makers, and remains a co-ordinator as Jessica, the famous actress returning to Canada to residcover acting, she has impressed both her fellow ac- tors and director. David Ellis (Patrick) is no stranger to the stage. Both gifted as an actor and director, he is one of this area's most popular "theatre people." Dave has acted . in "Nurse Jane Goes To Hawaii," for the Borelians, and Oshawa Little Theatre's "Guys and Sky-high! This obstacle course racer takes to the sky while jumping in the PPHS carnival obstacle course. Dolls."" Most recently he por- trayed Salieri in "Amadeus" from the moments play. Patrick, the nasty, vicious actor offers Dave his best role to date, and he has indeed made the most of it. Steve Foote (Phil) recently earned raves for his work in Bowmanville's Drama Workshop Production of "Tribute." Among his many credits are "Buried Child" for Durham Shoestring, "The Shadow Box" for theatre workshop, "Death Of A Salesman' for the Borelians, "Sunday's Child" for Adelaide Court, and "You Can't Take It With You' for Oshawa Little Theatre. In 1983, he won a THEA Award as Best Supporting Actor in the Borelian's 'Nurse Jane Goes To Hawaii."' As Phil, a role he did in 1984, Steve is hilarious as a terrified actor trying to remember his lines. Chris Francom (Robert) won accolades this year for his in- novative set design on Oshawa Little Theatre's ' 'The Dresser." His work on stage includes "Rosencrantz and Gilderstern" for Durham Shoestring. In'aity ters, Chris portrays the uptight,\ | but talented playwright, Robert. Halie Vogel (Susi) was a huge audience favorite in this year's musical production, "Nobody Loves A Dragon." As' the vile sorceress, she displayed both comic talent and musical gifts. Director Foote feels "She's among the best five actors/ac- tresses I've worked with." As Susi, Halie portrays a very friend- ly front of house manager. George Rizsanyi (George) is the director of the Greenbank Children's Theatre Workshop. He has directed "The Treasure Makers" for them, as well as in- troducing young people to im- provisation. George has acted in "Play It Again Sam" for Picker- ing Players, '"'God's Favorite' for Theatre Workshop, and "No Sex Lois i id PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, February 23, 1968 -- 41 Please, We're British' at Herongate. Here he portrays the director, George, struggling to referee his tempermental cast. Greg Finnegan (Tom) is a talented improvisation actor, having worked in revues in Ux- bridge and for the S.A.D.D. Com- pany. His role as Tom, a young newcomer working with stage vetrans, is an interesting parallell to Greg. New to scripted work and method he brings Tom vividly, to life. Anna Kosurko (Nick) is the nas- ty stage manager Nick. Most recently Anna worked in the Choral Society's "South Pacific" and an Oshawa production of "The Skin Of Our Teeth." Por- traying Nick is a challenge to the soft spoken Anna, portraying a tyrant, something she handles well. Sherri Todd-Meek (Peggy) is brand new to the stage, and method. As Peggy the likeable assistant to Nick, she brings a degree of sweetness and gentleness to a tricky role. Jitters opens this Friday, Feb. 25, running Sat. Feb. 27, and March 3-5, at Town Hall 1873. Tickets still available for some nights at 'Just Around The Cor- ner' 143 Perry Street, 985-8341. W up to $1000."
