Two egos battling for the spotlight--that's Patrick (played by David Ellis) and Jessica (played by Sandra James-Mitchell) in the hugely funny David French play Jitters, a Borellans production directed by John i 4 | f i Foote and produced by Donna Shanley. A terrific comedy, the must-see of the theatrical season, now playing at Town Hall 18783. Talk about a fancy hair-do! Sandra James-Mitchell, playing actress Jessica in the Borelians Community Theatre production .of Jitters, throws on a Marx Broth- ers style wig as she prepares backstage for her grand entrance. Jitters is both funny and insightful as it pokes revealing fun at the institution of theatre. No need to be nervous about Jitters! If you've ever acted in a school play, or sang solo with the choir, or even participated in a public speaking contest, you know what the Jitters are all about. They're those bowling ball sized butterflies careening around the inside of your stomach in the hours and minutes before appear- ing in front of an audience. For the most part, jitters aren't a lot of fun. Unless, of course, you're refer- ring to Jitters, the newest comedic production off the plate of the Bo- relians Community Theatre. Written by Canadian playwright David French, Jitters is a play within a play, detailing the often- hilarious events that occur on theatrical stages everywhere. It's a story about success, and lack of it. Of battling egos, prima donnas, and nervous nellies. * For theatre people, Jitters must cut awfully close to the bone, but even the uniniated can enjoy the humour and pathos of the Bore- lians latest hit. Produced by Donna Shanley, and directed by John Foote, Jitters stars the well-known local faces of David Ellis, Sandra James- Mitchell, Steve Foote, George Rizsanyi, Chris Francom, Greg Finncgan, Annelise Kosurko, Ha- lic Vogel and Sherri Todd-Mecek. Opening night, at Town Hall 1873 last Friday February 26, didn't house a sold-out crowd, but the people who did attend (about three-quarters full house) had a great time watching the antics of the actors. Tickets are still available for three more cabaret style produc- tions, on March 3; 4 and 5, at Just Around The Corner, Port Perry.
