pe gee 18 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, March 1, 1988 Busy spring ahead for Hosptial Auxiliary by Marion Webster The Port Perry Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary held their meeting on Monday February 15, with 18 ladies present. Elaine Buchanan, president, opened the meeting with all repeating the Auxiliary Prayer. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's report was then given. Gift Shop buyer Camille Crosier gave a good report. Bonnie Ger- row said 12 girls and 3 boys arriv- ed at the hospital since our last meeting. The Corr. Sec., has received 3 thank-you notes, and had sent out receipts and 3 thank-you letters. Joan Godley, Volunteer Co- Ordinator gave an interesting talk and she said her girls were work- ing very hard. Hazel Coates, Wool Convenor, showed us a lovely lot of knitting which had been turned in. Some - ladies sure have been busy with their knitting needles. We have a busy Spring ahead of us with a euchre, March 28, Spring Fair April 28, a yard sale, May 28. The Craft Shop girls had a good meeting, with some good ideas to work on. Also the Auxiliary Ladies will be selling tickets on a lovely wicker set. Thelma then moved the meeting adjourn, this being followed by a most interesting talk by Robin Johns Educator Co- Ordinator on Fire protection, and what to do in an emergency. After sharing our lunch everyone joined in on a very interesting sing-song. We also were pleased to have Miss Mona Mero (a resi- dent) play a few delightful pieces. In the evening the Christian Reform Church provided a love- ly service. Wednesday the 17th we had our monthly residents council meeting. Main topics on discus- sion were the Spring Bazaar and plans for another over-night trip. Thursday afternoon we all en- joyed the Monthly Birthday Par- ty which was hosted by the ~ Nestleton Court Lady Snowbirds. Several bingo games were played with lots of lucky winners. After- wards ea, coffee and birthday cupcakes were served. We all joined in on singing "Happy Bir- thday" to all the birthday people. Special thank you to this great group of women for a wonderful afternoon. The Supper Club gathered in the Activity room for a declicious meal of Chicken & Chips from the Dixie Lee. For dessert we had Coconut Cream Pie which was prepared by several of the ladies. One word "describes them -- Delicious-- Friday (19th):was Bingo. Con- gratulations to all of the lucky winners. After resting over the weekend we started off Monday the 22nd with an Olympic Bowling Com- petition. Our 3 medal winners were: Gold -- Becky Gray (101 pts.), Silver -- Donald Spencley, Bronze -- Lionel Blaikie. The following day was extreme- ly busy. A small group gathered together to eagerly watch a ceramic demonstration by Mrs. Chris Sharpe.' While these residents were busy working on a ceramic craft another group had gotten together in the other room for a discussion on "friendship."
