But in the last 3 minutes they came alive and scored 3 quick goals giving them a 3-1 win over Port. Tournament On Saturday, the Pineridge Sports Atom No. 2 team were entered in the Port Perry Atom No. 2 Tournament. In their first game Port met the Oshawa L.N.H.L. Bruins and won 3-1. Port got on the beard first after a scramble in front of the net. Assists went to Kent Taylor and Kirk Swain. Craig Laird finally got the puck and put it where it should be -- in the net. Port's second goal assisted by Billy Zaparanuik and Rickie Tripp came when Ricky Olaisen slid the puck through the goalies legs. Oshawa then scored a shor- thanded goal. Port's final goal assisted by Kent Taylor and Jeff Vernon was scored by a very deserving Kirk "Mr. Goalpost"' Swain. Kirk has hit more goalposts in the last few games than he is old. Way to go Kirk! Port's second match-up of the day saw the team from Bewdley being defeated by a score of 4-2. Bewdley scored first on a power- play goal. Port's first goal came as the result of a good set up from Jeff Vernon and Richie Tripp who got the puck to Ricky Olaisen who popped it into the net. oo Port's second goal assisted by Ian Shrigley and Jeff Vernon came from Ryan Williams, shor- thanded. Awesome! In the third period Daryl Bourgeois assisted by a couple of Ian's (namely Shrigley and McCready put Port ahead 3-1). Bewdley scored late in the third but Port's Ian Shrigley assisted by Matt Morris put the game out of reach for Bewdley and advanc- ed Port to the Championships. Pineridge AtomB's win local tournament One would think our boys were in the 15th Olympic games -- they were hungry for gold. They came, they saw, they conquered! The Championship game faced Port against Georgetown who had also won both of their 'games earlier. Port was ready for action as they got on the board first. Ian McCready gave a beautiful pass to Craig Laird who shot it in- to the top of the net. Port's second goal was a hard shot from the point by Matt Morris with Daryl Bourgeois picking up the rebound and shooting it in. ' Three minutes later on a power- play Richie Tripp assisted by Matt Morris and Ricky Olaisen gave Port all they needed to claim victory. Georgetown scored the last goal of the game but they couldn't catch the "Red Hot" team from Port Perry. Congratulations to Matt Morris who was named M.V.P. of the game. Way to go Matt. A special mention to Graham Holt, although he was not counted on the scoring sheet, his persis- tant forechecking and puck handl- ing along the boards and in the - corners kept the other teams off the score sheets. Well done Graham. Also - special mention to goaltenders James Paterson and Scot Prechitko who in the last 5 games -- well all we can say is Excellent guys. Although Greg Thompson is still sidelined with a broken col- larbone he was there to root his teammates on. A very special thank-you to Wendy Bourgeois for organizing treats for all the teams.
