Epsom students hit the beach! Epsom and Area News by Jean Jeffery Our Epsom Church Junior Choir received 87 points at the re- cent Music Festival at Sunderland. Congratulations. There were no competitors. Sally Irving also won a prize with the her piano solo. It is hard to keep track of our Epsom area children as some go to Greenbank, to Cornish and to Uxbridge and Port Perry High Schools and the wee ones come to Epsom. However, they are busy. ~ The Epsom P.S. children en- joyed a theatrical performance on Tues. March 1 at Eastdale Col- legiate in Oshawa. It was a presentation highlighting Author, "Robert Munsch." Epsom School needs a noon- hour supervisor beginning April 11. Anyone in the community in- terested in applying please con- tact Vice-Principal Linda #ockler at 985-7250. The staff and students at E.P.S. are planning an attack on the Winter "Blahs" with a Beach Day on March 10. Several fun ac- tivities are planned for the day in- cluding a barbecue lunch. Parents are welcome to join us for hot dogs and drinks. On March 11 a representative to Epsom P.S. from Kawartha Con- servation Area will be at Epsom to present a programme entitled "Spring Water Awareness." This is a safety Programme reminding the children of the dangers of thin ice. Winter: Break for all Durham schools this year is March 12 - 20. Now for 4-H Clubs (a little older group) they are holding a "Spring 4-H Rally" at Latcham Centre, Port Perry, March 21 at 8 p.m. Everyone is invited. If you wish to join 4-H sign up and you will be shown which group to join. If you are older and wish to help with the leadership you can also sign up and be shown to the right club. There will be demonstrations covering all 4-H Projects. Now for the Senior group. I was pleased to attend the Community Care luncheon at Trinity United Church last week and to enjoy the beautiful selections from the Musial Anne of Green Gables. The months of work brought 2 real professional touch to the pro gramme with Julie Henderson as Anne, Richard Watson as pianist. Several from Epsom area attend: ed the play at Uxbridge Secon- dary School. Two ladies at the lun- cheon won lucky draw tickets. Thanks to Community Care. We are pleased to see Shirley Baster out after a bad attack of "flu." On Sunday, Shirley and Paul Baster attended the "chamber Choir," pot luck dinner in Uxbridge and to wish one of the members happy birthday. On Saturday there was a most beautiful wedding at Trinity United Church in Uxbridge when Stacy, the youngest daughter of Ronald and Lorraine Brown of Greenbank (formerly of Epsom) became the bride of Steve Keraley. Mrs. Keith Ashton were guests. Congratulations. Last Tuesday, Jenny Watson isited with Mrs. Richard Ashton and Victoria. She also called on Mrs. Ruth Ashton. On Wednesday last week Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor, Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Ruth Ashton visited Mrs. Lunney and on Thursday Mrs. Ashton spent some time with her sister Lucille Wagner whom we welcome to our area. Floyd and Grace Evans wre hosts for a noon luncheon for the committee for the Canadian Food Grains Bank, a Christian response to hunger. A witness to the reality of God's love for all people.
