It was also an oc- casion for some picture taking of four generations, all with the same Van Camp Surname. At right in photo Is Percy holding six month old Michael. At left is Merrill and in centre is Dale. The three "elder" Van Camps all worked the family farm south of Blackstock and Michael likely will follow In the foot-steps of his father, grand-father and great grand-father. Master Technicians on Staff Obituary Clara Ward Clara Irene Ward, a resident of Whitby for 43 years and more recently residing at Fairview Lodge, Whitby. Clara Irene Ward passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 1988 at Fairview Lodge. The only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Thompson. She was born July 17, 1899 at Manchester in Reach Township. She married Joseph R. Ward June 3, 1924 at Manchester who predeceased her October 29, 1983. Mrs. Ward was a member of St. Mark's United Church, Whitby, a life member of the U.C.W., she was also a life member of the Whitby Chapter of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Jean (Mrs. Arnold Byers) of Scarborough and Ruby (Mrs. John Lowe) of Brooklin, 6 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers Harold & Lorne. Funeral Service was conducted by Rev. B. Gee at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 20, 1988. Spring burial, Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert. The above are students of Mary Holt who is very proud of them all. he ee aniline oo Ladies Jitney a great finish Blackstock and Area News by Joyce Kelly On Monday the Ladies Curling League held an enjoyable Jitney to end up the season's activities. All the curlers were welcomed by Mary Demerchant. After two games and a delicious pot luck lunch the prizes were awarded as follows -- 1st - Heather McLaughlin, Harold Hamilton, Tracey Vernest and Mary Mackie with Mary Demerchant, Roy McLaughlin, Christine Danilko and Glenna McLeod winning se- cond place. Third place was won by Janet Van Camp, Lorna Edgerton, Gerald Kelly, Leisa Phillip and Ann Lee. Announcement was made of the Awards Banquet and Dance to be held in the Nestleton Hall on Saturday, March 26. All members are urged to get tickets for themselves and their friends as soon as possible. Gerald and Joyce Kelly, Elizabeth, Elaine and Esther Kel- ly hosted a Graham get-together on Sunday. Attending were Mrs. Chester Graham, Mr. Louis Graham, Tom and Lois Feltis, Cheryl, Peter and Randy of Dalrymple, Jean Jones of Lind- say, Peter Peeters of Reaboro, Harvey and Joan Graham and Mark of Purple Hill. During this March Break many families will be taking trips to many destinations when the children are available to go along. Marion and Stan Rahm have been having health problems recently. Marion has just return- ed home from having surgery and now Stan is hospitalized with heart problems. We surely hope better days are ahead. Also in hospital are Mrs. Elva Van Camp and Mrs. Audrey Wright, both in Port Perry. Lawrence Van Camp is home recuperating. Warmest wishes for better health for all of you. U.C.W, by Kathleen Watts On Tuesday, March 8 the after- noon Unit of the United Church Women met in the church base- ment. After a dessert luncheon, Mrs. Grace Hall, our leader who had just returned from vacation opened the meeting. She thanked Jean Adams for taking her place while she was absent. The minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary Jean Ferguson and received approval. There was some discussion regarding the upcoming Federa- tion of Agriculture Dinner. It was mentioned that our church ser- vice at the Nursing Home would be Tuesday, April 19 at 7 p.m. It - was noted that Marion Larmer, who was absent from the meeting, would be looking after this. It was decided to put off the making of Easter eggs for sale until next year. There was some discussion about catering to a summer wedding. Papers were circulated regar- ding a Bible Study workshop for "Fellowship and Fun" and also for the Ont. Women's Conference for Strengthening Leadership in- to the 90's to be held in Waterloo. Information was given about a Food Outlet which has been open- ed at 159 Casimir St., Port Perry under the auspices of Operation Scugog. Monday is drop-off day and they are glad to accept good used clothing which is seasonal. They will also accept money or wholesome food such as muffin mixes containing bran. They are also anxious to receive fresh fruit and they need plastic bags. This depot opened on Feb. 15 and will receive donations every week. It was mentioned that there would be a Marriage Workshop on March 26 and that a meal would need to be prepared and served on this occasion. The roll call was answered with "My Secret for Keeping Fit." Some told about exercises, some told about the wonders of vitamins and still others about so- called "Miracle Cures." For the programme Mrs. Thelma Wright gave an in- teresting account of the Presbyterial held at Centennial Church in Oshawa. Thelma gave us information about the role of a chaplain in a prison setting and also the trials and tribulations of the prisoners living there. She described their opportunity for 'counselling and the chance to turn their life around for the better: Thelma was thanked for her ex- cellent summary. The meeting closed with the . usual benediction. There were nine tables at the weekly euchre party on Tuesday evening with the following win- ners: 1. Carl Gimblett, 2. Ruby Smith, 3.
