16 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, March 22, 1988 April 889 ' Jazzmerize and Friends' evenings Jazzmerize and Port High's Senior Stage Band "Swingsation" are rehearsing for "Jazzmerize and Friends' which takes place at the Town Hall on April 8 & 9 at 8:00 p.m. The Saturday night show will feature a special guest group from Toronto called "A Capella." This group has had television per- formances and they perform regularly in the Toronto area. The show will also include the first Town Hall performance of Port High's New Vocal Jazz Sex- tet, "Jazz On Six." Also included in this gala event will be an auction featuring the works of many local artists and craftspersons. This event is organized by the music parent's association to raise funds to help Jazzmerize and the Senior Wind Ensemble with travel expenses to festivals. This year Jazzmerize hopes to perform in Musicfest Canada in Calgary. Last year in Ottawa, they were one of our vocal Jazz ensembles in their age category to achieve a Gold standing. The other groups were Peel School, For The Performing Arts, Magee Secondary School from Van- couver, and the O'Neill Jazz Disciples. The Senior Wind Ensemble plans to perform at the Heritage Members of Port Perry High'"s Jazzmerize at rehearsal prior to March Break. The award winning vocal group is getting ready for a two night performance April 8 and 9 at Town Hall 1873 to help raise funds to attend up-coming festivals.
