J 30 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, April 12, 1988 On Sunday April 10, friends and family of the Port Perry Ringette girls gathered at Blackstock Hall to sing their praises and say farewell to a very successful Ringette season. This was a par- ticularly sweet season for three of our teams -- the Sportsland Juniors gathered a C.O.R.L. minor league Championship; the These three happy girls are all sportsmanship tro- phy winners from the April 10th Ringette banquet in Blackstock. Vickl Stainton won for Petite C, Michelle Fitzpatrick won for the Petite B, and Katie Senyk (at rear), won for Novice. And here's another three sportsmanship winners! Sherry Harris won for the Belles, Laural Menzies won for the Tweens, and Cathy Coutoulakis (at rear) won for the Juniors. 1.G.A. Belles gathered a Regional 'B' Championship; the Bruton's I.D.A. Petites gathered the ultimate -- A Provincial crown in the 'B' Division. It was also a time to thank our valued sponsors. Without these people we would not be able to proudly wear our team sweaters and represent them in our leagues. Our sponsors are Home Hardward for the Novice team; Kinette Club for the Petite 'C'; Bruton's 1.D.A. for Petite B; Allen's Siding Products for Tweens; Sportsland for Juniors; and 1.G.A. for Belles. Individual team players along with their coaches and managers were introduced and then the sportsmanship and ability awards were handed out. Although everyone wants to be winners we hopefully teach all of our girls sportsmanship. Winners of these trophies exemplify the traits we would like to see in all of our players -- fairness of play, good sports, people who don't get down on themselves or their team when they are losing. Winners of these awards were Katie Senyk for Novice; Vicki Stainton for Petite C, Michelle Fitzpatrick for Petite B; Laurel Menzies for Tweens; Cathy Coutalakis for Juniors and Sherry Harris for Belles. Mr. Howard Hall, local Council man, was present to hand out Scugog Township Awards of Achievement to our Petite B and Belle teams for the honours they brought home to Port Perry by being champions in their respec- tive divisions.
