However, - Joy Forbes, ; imately 100 yards off our dock, on his Sun Fish (a sail boat, not much bigger than a surf board.) * A 20 ft. police, power boat pulled up beside them. Jamie was in- structed to "Come Aboard' the police boat. Laurie was left to secure anchorage by hanging on- to the larger boat. Only wearing a swim suit, Jamie was without identification but when questioned he was honest and forthright, providing the officers with his name and complete Toronto address. After being presented with a summons, for not having Life Jackets he was allowed to return to the Sun Fish. The police boat immediately sped off - their wake capsizing the lit- tle boat. Laurie and Jamie swam the short distance to shore tugg- ing the Sun Fish behind them. Un- later, Jamie walked into 32 Sta- tion in Willowdale to pay some parking tickets. The officer in charge punched his name into the computer. Within minutes he was arrested, assaulted, grabbed by the arm, searched, ordered to remove his shoes (just in case he contemplated suicide) before be- ing led into a cell. He was threatened, that it was possible that he would remain in jail all weekend, should a judge not be available to review his case. After being detained in the cell for about an hour he was taken out, handcuffed, with his arms behind his back. He was then put into a police cruiser and driven at high speeds, exceeding 90 miles per hr. (WITHOUT A SEAT BELT) to 17 Station in Oshawa. There he was finger printed and photographed ADVANCE TICKETS $6.00 -- sounds by -- "SOUNDS LIKE SUMMER" Teen Dance - -- SCUGOG ARENA -- FRIDAY, MAY 27th - 7 PM to Midnight AT-the-DOOR $9.00 Tickets available at Irwin Smith Music & Dennis Anderson Chev-Olds - DJ SERVICE - Proceeds to the Ontario Society for Autistic Children EST. 1973 MAKERS OF: PAINTED PINE or ~ NATURAL PINE REPRODUCTIONS and OAK FURNITURE REMINISCENT OF YEARS GONE BY CUSTOM WORK WELCOMED: Come in soon, browse through our showrooms; see and feel the warmth - of COUNTRY PINE. Tweedsmuir history book For almost 50 years, "Tweedsmuir History Books" have been an important on-going project of Federated Women's In- stitutes of Ontario. These Books are comprehensive, factual col- lections of historical data of com- munities across Ontario. During Lord Tweedsmuir's term as Governor General of Canada, Lady Tweedsmuir took great interest in the Women's In- stitute. She stressed the need for preserving the history of "our Canadian people, places, customs and activities. Federated Women's Institutes of Ontario decided to act upon her sugges- tion and a "Tweedsmuir History Book" became the project of each Women's Institute Branch within Ontario. Today 1100 Branches each have a Tweedsmuir History Book and many Branches have two or three volumes. Main topics covered in these Books are -- Branch Women's In- stitute and its contribution to the welfare and development of the community; general community history; individual families and homes; schools and education; churches and their organizations; industries past and present; libraries; municipal government; recreation; and war records.
